Great day out. A kind of mystique about those 5000 year stones. Really peaceful up there picnicking .Good cafe and very interesting information centre. Liked the replica thatched huts they used to live in.

Thank Jeremy h

You probably think of Stonehenge being an ancient monument and even a place of worship.

English Herritige, no doubt needing income, have commercialised this place to an almost uncomfortable level. An entrance more like a theme park, a shop full of Stonehenge memorabilia, a cafe etc.

It looks deliberate that it has been made difficult for ordinary people to see some of their history without partaking in the whole commercial thing.

If you can set this aside in you mind, you can appreciate an important historic artifact.

An effort has been made in the indoor exhibition and outdoor buildings to set the stones in the context of history, but I still find these things a bit out of place.

You may see a couple of touring caravans near the stones where they quietly protest about English Heritage. I wouldn't normally support such a thing, but in this case I can see their point.

You can py 19,50£ to look at old stones.. You get shutteld with a bus to a near stop and walk the last 200f to the stones. Me and my Girlfriend walked the hole way without paying and got the Foto below. With buying the Tickets you can also get into the Visitor center with all the Informations about stoneheng you can also get from Google.

I wouldnt recommend the Tickets unless are really interested in the Stones...

Much improvement since our last visit. More to do and see before actually getting to the stones. Great if you’re an English Heritage member as entry is free.

Stonehenge is absolutely amazing. It’s about a two hour drive from LondonI. It is really fascinating and is today still one of the world’s best mysteries. An experience you will not forget!
