By far the best hotel in the city. Rooms very clean and comfortable and great views of the golf course and Mekong river. Excellent value for money, especially rooms in the A block. Quite a nice golf course as part of the hotel and special rates for hotel guests.

Room Tip: Rooms in the A block have the best views. Worthwhile to pay a little extra for an upgrade.

Could not find an international 5-star so I booked at the #1 rated Golden Zone Hotel first. Big mistake. Moved to the Empark the next day for US$6 more. It was worth US$100 more.

Stay in Block A, the 5-star tower. VERY CLEAN; spacious rooms; very good lighting; wired and wifi; comfortable beds and sheets; nice desk with ports; large bathrooms with sunken (in the floor) bath tub; big flat screen TV; great views of the Mekong (or golf course); nice 24-hour room service menu. Hotel photos are 100% as advertised- albeit with a wide-angle lens. Fitness center in separate spa building was not adequate had 3 machines: stationary bike, home gym station, treadmill. As a consolation, the area is very new and great for jogging along the Mekong and around private golf course homes.

4-star Chinese breakfast buffet (included) was OK. Eggs cooked to order (not omelettes), noodle station, and decent breads and rolls.

The only Thai thing at the "Thailand Street" shopping center across the street is a kick-boxing ring in the open air area. Otherwise all souvenir, jewelry, and tea shops. Not restaurants- just hawker stall bbq's. Very disappointing.

This was a 3-day trip to Kunming and Xishuangbanna and I also stayed at the Empark in Kunming. I have been very surprised and impressed by Empark Hotels. Still some work to do in terms of food and beverage, but very glad to see a China-brand that can compete with international 5-star brands.

Room Tip: Block A is the 5-star tower. I used eLong for the first time. No credit card required for reservation. Hotel photos are very accurate.

Excellent location near the Mekong river, good rooms with a lot of space. Beautiful views of the pagoda across the Mekong river.
Service and food correct, although service can be certainly improved. Still difficult to communicate with employees, maybe because a great majority of the customers are Chinese.
If you are a runner, do not forget to run along the river, on the banks. Nice and gentle.

Truly a 5 star hotel...the Deluxe room was spacious (about 40o square feet), extremely well appointed, comfortable, etc. several of the staff spoke English and they truly tried to accommodate all requests. This is a whole complex with the hotel just being one element. Nearby building C had a nice BBQ restaurant, they will bring you to their own golf course (highly manicured but pretty blah...if you want to play golf I highly recommends he Wild Elephant Course about an hour away).

Short taxi into center of Xishuangbanna but many new stores are being built nearby and will open in a year or so. So town is expanding towards hotel.

Overall highly recommended,
