The Shoff-Read Century Farmhouse was a very nice place to stay - quaint, well taken care of, clean and the hostess, Susan very attentive & responsive. It is located in the country and very quiet. We stayed over on a Sunday night and the sound of hooves on pavement was the only sound to break the silence in the late night and early morning. Great place for respite. I would definitely stay here again. The home doesn't have AC so bring a fan to encourage the nice evening breeze.
My husband and I have stayed here several times, always in the fall when the red leaves in the area are gorgeous. This gracious home is immaculate and updated, yet retains the period charm of a farmhouse dating 125+ years old. Lovely and warm, guests have space to spread out and privacy to relax, especially on the large front porch and first floor living areas. We prepared meals to accomodate our dietary restrictions in the full kitchen. We've traveled many places nationally and internationally and the Shoff-Read Century Farmhouse is one of our favorite stays for old-fashioned comfort and convenience. Always a special time for us and we look forward to saying again when we're in the area.
This charming farmhouse with all its modern updates is the perfect place to stay! I visited nearby Clearfield, Punxsutawney and State College – all easy drives. Some days I stayed in, reading and relaxing on that wide front porch. I’ve visited here several times with family and will be back for reunions. With our large group, it’s a fraction of the cost of multiple hotel rooms and ten times the comfort. Coming from Georgia, I especially enjoy the summers, but spring and fall are also obviously great times to visit. Add to all this, a golf course only a few miles away, Amish buggies, and hills, forests and wildlife. Highly recommended!

My daughter and I couldn't have had a more wonderful place to spend the eve of her wedding! This delightfully refurbished farmhouse, with tranquil, pastoral views from every window and porch, was a perfect setting for reflecting on the past, sharing and laughing together in the present, and anticipating with joy the day ahead. The rooms, all beautifully decorated, maintain harmony of period furniture and decor with modern comfort--we were challenged deciding which of the beautiful rooms we would pick! The bathrooms are all tastefully and comfortably updated. We also made good use of the fully equipped kitchen. A totally positive and cherished experience.
My husband and I have had the opportunity to stay in this farmhouse several times over the past five years. Every time, I love it more and more. The construction is wonderful and solid yet you can fill the history. There are two staircases, one was used by the farm hands that stayed there. All of the rooms are large, beautifully decorated and comfortable. The decor of the inside gives you an idea of what it was like in the early years and lets your mind wander and ponder over the history of the home and the area. Upgrades my been made to the inside to allow for the modern day living conveniences but takes nothing away from the coziness and uniqueness of the home. Try it, I know you will love it! We plan to go back.
