If you're in the vicinity of Crough Patrick take the time to drive down to the abbey ruins. The locations is unique as it right along the bay shoreline. The adjoining cemetery is huge and still actively used, which is not unusual for monastic site in Ireland.

It’s a lovely place to visit.
It’s a very short walk from the bottom of Croagh Patrick (it’s accessible even for those with less mobility) and it’s definitely worth the visit. You walk down this lovely little road (just for about three minutes) and then you can see the beautiful abbey. It’s derelict, but still a beautiful sight - the main window (which used to allow light into the altar) is stunning.
The views from the abbey are very nice as well.

Murrisk Abbey is simply beautiful! This is something you should not miss if travelling anywhere near Wesport. The National Famine Memorial is nearby as well.
The Abbey, founded in 1457, is located on the water and has fabulous views of Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay. This is easy to miss so keep your eyes open or you will surely miss this beautiful spot.
