The hotel choices in Tillamook are very limited and because of this lack of options, rooms get quite expensive for an otherwise small (and farm-dominated) town. The Western Royal Inn is not a luxurious hotel by any means, but it certainly provides a place to lay your head at night if you need a cheap room in the area.

The hotel and the rooms are dated, but everything you need is provided. The free wifi signal was strong, the water was hot, the beds were OK (especially for a single night's sleep), and having a mini-fridge and microwave in the room was very nice. The continental breakfast was pretty bare (even as cheap motels go), but it was enough to get us going in the morning. We had a "queen suite" room in which two bedrooms were separated by the kitchenette and bathroom---this is actually a great design for families traveling together, but overall, the hotel just needs some TLC.

So, it won't win any awards or your undying affection, but if you're not interested in paying the scandalously high prices in the area (hey, the cheese factory is great, but this town is otherwise a blip on the map), then this is a good option.

Have rated this motel average because of the old saying - you get what you pay for. It is old, it is worn - those things I am used to, but it is not cared for and not particularly clean. I understand they are trying to keep costs down but some decent sheets and curtains and some tlc doesn't cost much. Implementing the smoking rule of being 10 feet away from the building doesn't cost either. Having said that the young lady on reception was lovely.

So, pay more for clean and cared for down the road or stay here and be happy it's reasonably cheap.

This is an older two story motel. Even the first floor is up around 3-4 feet from street level. There is a ramp for wheelchair access to the first floor, but you're on your own for the second floor. Check in was easy. Our room was clean and had a 4 cup coffee maker with excellent Oregon coffee. The furniture is dated, the couch well-worn. The old analog TV with digital converter worked fine, as did the shower. We had plenty of room. The included breakfast is all carbs. There is good cell coverage here. Only 2 bed pillows were provided. No hairdryer. Air conditioning unit is in the sitting area, not in the bedroom. The included breakfast is all carbs. These observations are just to let you know what to expect. We didn't mind most of the things I pointed out, as this place was comfortable and a good value. I would stay here again.

Do not stay in this hotel. It was not clean nor was there anything attractive about it. though the reception person was ok, if I had planned to be in Tillamook another night I would have looked for another hotel or gone on to the next town. Really an awful place.

I stayed at the Western Royal Inn on 8/14/2016. I believe this may be one of the worst motels I've stayed in - EVER. The hand rails on the ramp to the first floor rooms was covered with spider webs; the walkway in front of the rooms was a patchwork of plywood repairs, and there was an unidentifiable smell when you walk up the ramp to the room. I will never stay here again.

Room Tip: Avoid the facility
