Here's is an updated review of this facility. The place now has two twin beds, two office type chairs one table, stove, oven, heating stove, pots and pans, (I suggest you bring your own) it has tp, cleaning products, (I suggest a pee bucket for in the night), views that are simply wonderful, screened windows, nothing on top of that big box in the middle of the room anymore, I was expecting a big compass, but now just a box that divides the room.
Everyone cleans the facility upon leaving. It says checkout is 11:00 am and arrival is at 1:00 pm which is good as the last two miles is pretty much one single lane and it is best not to have to back up in some sections of the road.
The Panther Ridge trail is located just after the final gate to the facility so if you want to hike you have a great trailhead right there. We brought bear spray but didn't need it.
The weather was just perfect lots of nice wind at night, you can watch the sunset and the moon rise at the same time. It took us 7 hours from Portland with a stop for a small picnic.
We loved it, if you have a sleeping bag, the beds are super hard so a foam roll would be a great thing to bring. Enjoy!
