There were 6 of us for dinner and we had reserved a table as it is a small restaurant. We ate family style; chicken wings, dumplings, pot stickers, fried rice, a beef dish. Everything was perfect. We found the cucumber cocktail a little too sweet but aside from that, everyone was very happy.

We enjoyed Kung Pao Chicken and Chicken Chow Mein. This is not your grandmas chinese food, it was all very fresh and delicate. We have enjoyed this restaurant many times, the service and food quality are always excellent.

We came here for the dumplings. We got the shrimp dumplings and the house wontons. I was not blown away, they were pretty good, the sauce for the shrimp dumplings was far too salty for me to enjoy. We also got the guaiwer noodles, which had a great flavor.

We showed up at around 5:45pm to an almost empty restaurant. When our server approached us we ordered appetizers and our dinner. Other patrons filled the restaurant and they all received their food and drinks. We did not. We finally inquired about or drinks and they brought one wine, on the house yet no food. Then one of our appetizers arrived (after asking). The other appetizer 10 minutes later. When we got up from the table to ask why we had not gotten our entrees, since all the tables around us had already gotten their food, they only made excuses. After about an hour, we left and walked down the street to Sweet Basil Thai. Sweet Basil Thai was great.

We had high hopes for Shandong, based on reviews, but our selection of dishes, with one exception, proved average or below. So, dish by dish, the complementary house version of egg drop soup was OK, but we wish it had been hot&sour soup as was previously offered. The veggie filled pot stickers were a big disappointment, as the tofu filling designed to replicate meat was without any discernible taste, and the texture was dry and monotonous. Where is the vegetable crunch? The house version of hot&sour soup is a hot, sweet, and sour soup, not bad, in itself, but a poor cousin of what we consider good hot&sour soup. Mu Shu chicken was served with what seemed to be rather heavy flour tortillas. The filling was, in my opinion, was soggy, lacking in flavor, over-cooked, and again without a fresh vegetable crunch. One exception in the meal, a house fusion dish, was the Pork Belly Mapo Tofu. It was flavorful and multi-textured, and was less than perfect only in the fact that some of the pieces of pork belly had tough and chewy portions. When we were offered white or brown rice with the Pork Belly Mapo Tofu, the server failed to mention that brown rice was a $2.00 upcharge. When we complained, our excellent server removed it from the bill graciously. While we came at lunchtime, we ordered from the dinner menu to get the dishes we wanted. Price wise, we thought the dinner menu was reasonable, and the lunch prices just a bit expensive.
