It’s dark and a bit brooding inside. The atmosphere feels pretty hipster. But the staff was great. Friendly, attentive and kept the food and drinks coming quickly without the goofy manager checkin the chains do. I’d come back on the service alone.

That said, we had a ton of appetizers ranging from Dim sum, edamame, and pot stickers. Entrees included the Chinese offerings, sushi and a couple of vegetarian choices.

Saucebox was a great choice for our group and definitely delivered.

Everything was amazing. The brussel sprouts were one of a kind. Great vegetarian dishes. The drinks are imaginative and well priced. I’ll be back.

Well located fashionable restaurant with some outstanding food items; needs refresher training about serving customers.

Solid entrees - spicy eggplant, Korean ribs and salmon were hits. For appetizers, crispy Brussels sprouts were amazing, but papaya salad was tasteless and sparse.

Service was very disappointing. Didn’t remove used plates between courses; didn’t refresh water or drinks; didn’t check-back to ask if entrees were prepared well.

Didn’t feel welcome; won’t rush back.

Must come here when in Portland! Cool ambience, flavorful food and best salmon in the town!
Also very conveniently located in the heart of the city, phenomenal cocktails and slick menu!

We stopped in on our way to a show at the Newmark theatre and the service was fast and really friendly. Had the chicken Karage and the pork belly steam buns (love mixing Japanese and Chinese!!) And both were perfectly cooked and delicious. The pork in the steam buns was juicy and crispy and so, so melt in your mouth fantastic, it's almost worth the drive back to Portland for a second go!! (and I'm Canadian, lol) Also, love the Deer Cup Sake, served cold and you can keep the cup :P
