Went to Nicholas' partially looking for great Greek cuisine since my favorite place, Alexis closed due to the owner's retirement after 30 years of the best Greek food in PDX. The menu listed the food as "Mediterranean" and was mostly Lebanese with a few Greek style dishes. Fortunately, I love great Lebanese food, too!
Was pleasantly surprised by the food quality and service. Ordered a chicken shawarma which was very good, vegetarian stuffed grape leaves [Dolmathes in Greek], humus, baba ganoush, and tzatziki [need more garlic, but ok]. A freshly made huge Pita that was very good.
I will go back again to try other Lebanese dishes they prepare.

My friend and I decided to come to Portland for the weekend for a "Food & Beverage" Crawl. We ended up at Nicholas' on a recommendation and WOW are we happy. Before you can even settle in they bring out a fresh out of the fire fresh backed flat bread pita the size of a hub cap! The menu offers a wonderful variety of choices while not being overwhelming. Portions are generous and the wait staff is friendly. Best of all, the food is bursting with Lebonese flavor!

Had frequented the Gresham location a few years back but this was the first time we visited the original Grand location. Restaurant was very busy but the wait to be seated was not protracted. The restaurant itself, was small and intimate with plenty of diners on this Sunday evening. Good atmosphere albeit a bit hard to hear! As with all our previous visits, the food was front and center: Meat Mezza, Spinach Pie, Shawarma Beef Sandwich, Sambousik, Tambouli (salad and side) - all were good...and the Lebanese beer to wash it all down was surprisingly tasty! Will be back!
