I hadn’t been here since the major renovations and I was so glad to see the changes as well as recollect prior grounds. Most importantly, a visit here offers the pause to enjoy nature’s beauty AND get ideas for possible changes to our home garden! Always a treat - every season of the year - for Oregonians AND visitors!

Parking was $10 I believe and a small parking lot. Bought tickets and jumped on the shuttle to take us to the top. You can also walk but it will take about 5 minutes. Spent about an hour walking around taking pictures and enjoying the beauty. There was a restroom about half way through.

The garden is set high above the city and is easy to navigate. There is a shuttle available for persons who have difficulty walking the steep trail to the garden entrance. While the garden is very traditional, the designers have preserved many of the trees natural to the Portland area. The garden has many lovely paths and various areas. Even with many people it is a calm and serene spot.

If there is one thing I've noticed when visiting Japanese gardens around the world, it is that many do it poorly.

This garden has legitimately been the closest to the real thing that I have come across since going to Japan. Would recommend it.

The cafe inside the grounds was delicious and staff were helpful.
