“Newport, Oregon has something for everyone.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 October 2010

My family was forutnate enough to spend a week, this past August, in the beautiful coast town of Newport, Oregon. We stayed at a vacation rental towards the north end of town and found that our rental car proved to be key in getting around to the local and nearby attractions. We loved beachcombing on several of the beaches closeby and even found some agates! The aquarium is great and a must-do for anyone in the area. Newport has the convenience of a city but the intimacy and charm of a small town.
My favorite area is down by the docks where the fisherman bring their daily catch in. There are great shops and restaraunts and you can take a boat tour from a couple different companies. javascript:checkAllPhotos();
We also enjoyed the nearby towns of Walport and Lincoln City.
All in all it was a great vacation with time to relax and listen to the waves and also a chance to explore the lighthouses and beaches as well as the great town of Newport.

Great season to visit there now. A lot of crabs to catch, and you have a good chance to see whales along the coast.

“Love The Oregon Coast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 October 2009

The Oregon Coast is a fabulous vacation spot. I went to Newport, Oregon, which I loved. It has tons of attractions and sight seeing adventures! It is close to the bayfront, aquariums, sand dunes, sea lion caves, whale watching, deep see fishing, and much more. I would definately recommend this town!

“Lots of fun!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 October 2009

We visited Newport a short while ago, and had a wonderful time. Some of the touristy things are kindof a waste of time, such as spending an exhorbitant amount of money to see the wax museum, ripleys and the undersea gardens. The gardens are really not that much to see (just a boat that happens to be underwater with a lot of windows and screaming children) and the other two exhibits were just really small and not quite as exciting as the brochures made them out to be... They were fun and enjoyable, just not worth as much as we paid.

That said, the Newport aquairum is one of the best I have been to. Seaworld in san diego rocked but I personally enjoy the newport aquairum better, and it blows the seattle aquarium out of the water entirely. It is organized so creatively, with tanks featuring works by renowned glass artists. The coast is known for its glass art by the way. Afterward, we really enjoyed just walking around by the water and exploring some of the town. We went in august and the weather was wonderful. The trip was well worth it!

“Beautiful Oregon Coast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 October 2009

Just completed a week long trip up the Oregon Coast and stayed five nights in Newport. The oregon coast is beautiful, the beachees are open to the public in most areas and Route 101 is a great drive with many turn outs for stopping to take pictures.

Beaches are not good for swimming due to water temperature and currents but are great for walking or just sitting on the beach.

Newport is a great town with 4 distinct areas, Nye Beach, the Harbor Dstrict, the Deco District and north (Agate) beach.

There is so much to see and do that it was nearly impossible to see everything I wanted to see.

I strongly recommend the Chowder House in Nye Beach and a visit to the cheese factory in Tillamook (about 60 miles north of Newport) and the Oregon Aquarium in Newport

Take an umbrella or rain gear because it can rain at a moments notice.
