“Excellent beds for an excellent price!”
Reviewed 16 March 2012

We stayed at this hotel 2 years ago and it rated high on our list but we couldn't remember why. We now know it was because of the beds, and the nice staff and the casual atmosphere. After 2 months on the road, this bed was heaven! We booked a second night just so the enjoyment could continue. The staff were knowledgable and one of them remembered us from 2 years prior which was really nice. We will go out of our way to stay here again. The indoor pool and hot tub were great..........the gym, a little old on the equipment but it worked.

Room Tip: The beds, pool and hot tub are worth it! None of the rooms face the 101 so pretty quiet.

We loved our room. The only draw back for us was the view but we dealt with it and it's not close to the beach. The Clerk at the front desk was very helpful and nice. He gave us directions to the Ripley's museum (which we had passed by on the way in. That part smelled pretty fishy but hey it's a fishing town). By the time we got back we still had some day light to walk around the corner to go take some wacky pictures at some really neat specialty shops. The next day we went to the shops again and looked around at everything they had to offer. We even went to Newports Aquarium and then left to go to the beach which I think was a few miles away. Good thing we did or we would have missed seeing a seal on the beach just hanging out and some kite surfers surfing :) Would we do it again You Bet !

I was apprehensive when making this reservation because of a bad personal experience with La Quinta in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. However, I was surprised to find this hotel to be a good value, comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located close to all that Newport has to offer. The room was very clean and had a mini-kitchen with plates and silverware, which came in handy when eating local seafood takeout. The King sized bed was soft and we slept very well. The internet connect was consistently excellent and easy to access. The flat screen television was also a surprise with HD provided for excellent viewing. We did not try the provided breakfast as we wanted to try as many Newport seafood restaurants providing breakfast as long our stay allowed. We will stay when we return to Newport.

La Quinta Inn in Newport had all the basics and a little more. It was very clean and quiet. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The best part was that they allow dogs and cats with no charge (yay!) and were situated just a couple of blocks from delicious home-style diners and fish markets. The Inn is also just a couple of blocks from antique stores and a fudge factory. It's technically in the "aquarium district," which besides an aquarium includes several shops where you can blow your own glass treasures.

The one draw-back is that it's not in the nicest part of Newport and you have to drive over a bridge to get to the heart of town. It's situated right next to the highway. But if you're just looking for an affordable and clean place to stay with your dog - then this place is pretty awesome.

Although I didn't use it - they have a nice indoor pool and hot tub.

Room Tip: Try to be on the top floors facing the bay, as opposed to the highway.
