“Waterfalls and history and the amazing views”
Reviewed 29 December 2011

The old Historic Columbia River Highway is about 75 miles of waterfalls and beautiful lush forests and streams. Start in troutdale and go all the way to The Dalles. it was built between 1913 and 1922.There is a parallel new highway but the scenery is nothing like the old highway. there are about a dozen different waterfalls along this road. You can stop at the visitor center and get a map. most are fairly easy to access but some are major hikes. Use the guide to determine which are doable for you. Plan to spend the entire day. There are some places to eat but not many so you may want to take a picnic lunch and cooler with you.
