This was a decent place to stay for a couple of nights. It's circa mid-1950's and looks to have last been updated in the 1980's. However, it's spotlessly clean and maintained well. One warning, the walls are VERY thin - we could hear the guy next door snoring all night! And only 1 channel is available on the TV, so bring something with which to amuse yourself! There's no place to eat nearby, but coffee and tea are always available and they do have some snacks for purchase in the lobby. The town does have one little food store (the other, the general store, is closing), but it was always closed when we stopped by. It's about a 10-minute drive to the nearest restaurant and about 20 minutes to Crater Lake. Heidi was very friendly and helpful, though somewhat distracted as Sue was ill and she was understandably concerned about that. Loads of material about Crater Lake and the surrounding area are available in the lobby. We'd stay here again if we were in the area.

Dog lovers rejoice, this is an exceptionally welcoming place for dogs (and their owners) and is an excellent place to stay just outside of Crater Lake National Park. We really enjoyed staying in one of the A frame cabins. The owners work hard to make this a lovely place to relax.

The owners are very helpful, the place is clean and tidy, and if you don't want to pay the Lodge prices in the Park, this is a great motel option about 12 miles south of the park. The General Store in town is just down the street has great donuts for breakfast!

This little motel was the least expensive and one of the most pleasant nights of a 2-wk vacation. Sue and Heidi are “naturals” at hospitality, and genuinely want you to have a good time. We booked one of the simple, no frills rooms, but it was spotless and had a small refrigerator. They serve good coffee and other beverages in the morning. It is a rural setting where you don’t mind slowing down and enjoying their yard swings. We were concerned that we might hear visiting "pets," but it was very quiet.

We stayed at the Aspen Inn on the way to Crater Lake. It was close enough (30 min) that we took a drive up to the park in the evening to have a look around and see the lake in the evening light, highly recommended. Heidi and Sue have complimentary brochures and maps of the Lake, accompanied by as many tips as you want.

Even if you don’t stay here, look at their website—lots of resources for Crater Lake National Park, the Eastern Cascades, and Klamath Basin. They have very thoughtful links for fishing, birding, hiking, and things to do in the area.

Room Tip: Families may want to reserve ahead for the A-frames and other specialty lodging.

Since all lodging was booked at Crater Lake National Park in August we chose Aspen Inn which is probably the closest lodging outside the park. Sue and Heidi were extremely helpful with directions and recommendations. We stayed in one of the motel room accomodations which had 2 queen beds and a small bathroom. All very clean. It had a microwave but no hair dryer. Great value. I would recommend this place for a nice stay outside the park.
