This is my favorite falls of the Columbia River Gorge. Maybe because it was the first one out of the five that we saw the day we visited, but it was simply beautiful. When I have trouble falling asleep, I like to think of Latourell Falls.

It is the closest Falls on Columbia Gorge to Portland. It is the 3rd largest Fall in the Columbia River Gorge. The plunge is around 250 feet

Totally blown away at the natural beauty here and at other falls along the short drive from Portland. So very glad we rented a car to take in these sites. Had originally planned to use public transportation and stay only in Portland itself. That would have been a huge mistake.

The lower hike can get you close to an amazing waterfall. Like real close....I was standing just feet from the base. Close enough to feel the water as it hit the rocks 200+ feet below. But that is not a hike...that is a simple walk down a gravel path. Do the upper hike. It's not too strenuous, but it will stop you at a smaller waterfall that you can walk behind. It's a very scenic walk and being able to walk behind the falls is something that you can't do at most of the other falls in the area.

The lower falls is a short hike and is very pretty. Then there is a well maintained trail to the upper falls. This was a nice stop.
