First off, the building itself is lovely. It looks as though it's designed to echo the huge grain elevators that are strewn across Oklahoma.
All of the displays are very well composed and constructed. My favorites were: the Steamboat Heroine, the Land Run exhibit, the "Crossroads of Commerce" displays focusing on businesses that were founded in Oklahoma, the Century Chest, and the special exhibit "Welcome Home: Oklahomans and the War in Vietnam."
Outdoors is a lovely walking tour of the Red River in concrete, with sculptures, educational displays about significant events in history and the flora of the area.
Prices in the cafe and museum store are a little high.
Admission was only $7 -- well worth it!

Were in town for the OU game on Saturday but Friday was chilly and windy so looked for an indoor activity. This is a great museum with 4 rooms full of Oklahoma and Indian history. My father grew up in OKC so this brought back so many memories from visiting my grandparents over the years. We went on a Friday afternoon and almost had the place to ourselves The $7 admittance fee was reasonable. There is a small café that is only open for lunch but didn't look too impressive.

There are several exhibitions on display here, all which are interestingly presented. Be sure to leave yourself enough time to see it all!

nice but a bit irritating as in every room there are many different thems - I could not see a relation e.g. between African Americans ad Oil and Gas and a steamboat....

My wife & I visit State Capitols & history museums throughout the country. The Oklahoma History Center is an excellent facility with great displays & more than enough to keep you busy. We ended up spending parts of 2 days there as there is so much to see & do. There are also great exhibits outdoors along with a walking path with history & plant descriptions. Well worth spending time at. Wonderful for kids along with their parents &/or grandparents.
