Great food. Atmosphere is a little dark, but cozy. If you have a large party I would make a reservation. This place is always full.

We have been going here for years . The quality of the food has come down the past 5 years but it;s still pretty good. They're prime rib which was awesome seems to be missing something the past few years also. I really like the peas and peanut and the carrot salads that come with the lazy susan and would love to get the recipe. The garlic toast basket is also a keeper. We were there this past Saturday and my sirloin steak which was a "upgraded" special was way over cooked. The wifes pork chops were very good though as were her hash browns. Service was very good. I will continue to go here as it's probably the best in the area but I would hope that they would upgrade the quality a bit and keep an eye on the cook as he/she tends to cook on the well done side.

We recently celebrated my parent's 50th anniversary at the Steer Barn. We had 23 people in our party and Jenn was the best server anybody could ever ask. The food was great, and nobody left hungry. Great variety of steaks although they are on the pricey side. You get four salads (pea salad with peanuts, pasta salad, potato salad, and carrot/raisin salad), crunchy garlic bread, and warm soft loaves of bread prior to the soup or salad and regular meal. The meals came quickly after the soup/salad.

We've been a fan of The Steer Barn for a long time. Attending college in mid-central Ohio, I was introduced to The Steer Barn as a place for special dinners. Since then, we've continued to return and enjoy both the atmosphere, the service, as well as the excellent food. Plan on a little over an hour trip north from Columbus - but it's an easy trip. Be sure that you make a reservation - especially on weekends because it can get crowded. When you arrive, enjoy the ambiance of an actual barn built in the mid 1800's that has successfully been converted into a restaurant. Don't be embarrassed if you eat the entire basket of garlic toast that's served as an appetizer (we do each time we go there). Also enjoy the lazy-susan of appetizers that is served with all meals (we ask for pea salad, carrot salad, and cottage cheese). There are other options, but we find we can't pass these up. Dinners include a side dish; we usually order beef which (in our minds) requires baked potatoes. All superbly done. The special when we went last night was flat-iron steak - a real hit. If it's available when you go, don't hesitate in ordering it. The chopped steak is indescribable and something that you should try. By the time we get finished with dinner - there's seldom room for dessert, so we can't recommend anything in particular. Based the rest of the offerings, any dessert would be great. It's a destination for Columbusites, but worth your time and planning to have dinner there. It's a favorite for us!

They CAN handle a large crowd like it's a family of 4.
Take the drive to Upper Sandusky to enjoy this fantastic steak house restaurant.

Famous for its prime rib but most beloved for its signature complimentary garlic toast and "relish trays".
Free with every meal comes 3 of 6 choices to sample of:
potato salad
pasta salad
cottage cheese w/chives
beets
pea salad w/peanuts
carrot salad w/pineapple and raisins
and if you bring a large group you get all 6 choices to share.

We came with a group of 20+ people and our ONE waitress was spectacular. She kept the drinks and relish trays flowing.
