Owner description: Get an underwater view of hippos at the Hippoquarium, the only such zoo exhibit in the world, and then move on to see the 500 or so other species of mammals, reptiles and birds.

This zoo is wonderful! It is not overly spread out so you don't get tired walking between exhibits. The new-er aquarium is the best! They work really hard to have seasonal activities and their Christmas lights display should not be missed.

Would I do it again, no. One time was enough. Price was to high, should maybe have been 10 dollars. I had 8 total with me for 2 hrs and a half the price I paid was over priced. Not enough animals out. We had 1 bear, 3 wolf's, reptile building and fish. Oh I forgot the girraff cage. ..lights before Xmas is a whole bunch better..there just wasn't enough luminaries.

Normally the Toledo Zoo prepares for the lights before Christmas after the busy summer tourist season and during the early autumn. However, this year Toledoans are enticed to the zoo during October to see the unique Chinese, life-size, animal lanterns that are exhibited throughout the zoo. There are dinos, reptiles, zebra, butterflies, giraffes, birds, and almost any animal you can imagine lit throughout the zoo. It is beautiful especially with the few zoo holiday lights that are used for the occasion to enhance the displays. The lanterns that are grouped in "herds" are most amazing. A beautiful evening out and a special bonus is to see the baby cougars fed in the nursery at 8:30 p.m.

What an amazing number of beautiful Chinese lanterns on display for Luminous Nights! Many of the animal houses (including the aquarium) are open during this evening event. Much to enjoy.

This Zoo is larger than those in Cleveland and Pittsburgh. It also has more animals and larger exhibits. I want to make it out to this again as they have Hippopotamus that the other zoos around me do not.
