We visited MAPS after not having been there for a little over a year. Because it’s on the backside of the Akron-Canton airport it’s easy to overlook. Don’t overlook it, though. In addition to the aircraft, there are other displays, as well as a major feature in local heroes of WW II through the present. The only downside is the a fair number of the aircraft are outside, so good weather is a strong positive as one plans a visit.

The museum is tucked in at the back of an industrial park adjacent to Akron-Canton Airport. The aviation museum has a good collection of WWII and early Cold War airplanes under roof. There is also a collection called the Hall of Heroes that features the military exploits of men who grew up in the Stark County (Ohio) Area. There are uniforms and decorations on display including citations for the Medal of Honor, Silver Star, and Navy Cross.

Outdoors, there are several airplanes on display including a C-47 Skytrain and F-14 Tomcat. (It was very cold during my visit, so I didn’t tour the flight line.)

They have a whole hanger filled with airplanes, helicopters and a gondola from one of the Goodyear blimps! Could go inside the gondola and sit in a couple of the helicopters.
They also have a General Military memorabilia room, and a room dedicated to soldiers from Ohio who fought in the Civil War to modern times. Lots of displays of uniforms, weapons, and medals. A lot to see and very interesting! Would highly recommend a visit if you are in the Akron/Canton area!
