I go to this park a lot. It is a large, quiet area to just relax and spend some quiet time to myself. There are many areas you can pull in and park. Lots of walking trails. There have been many times I have walked on the trail and not seen a single person. I do feel safe in this park, but still - take your phone with you and keep an eye on your surroundings. I did have one occasion when a man stared at me too much. I went directly to the nature center in the front of the park and walked in. There was a ranger/employee and mentioned what was happening to her. She walked outside and started to approach him - but he jumped in his vehicle and drove off. I am not trying to scare you off from this park - but to show you someone is always there (she told me that) and there are generally people all over the park too. So, just be aware of your surroundings. I still go for walks by myself. A lot of times - someone jogs past me. There are a lot (a lot) of play areas for kids. Lots of tables to have a picnic. A big grassy area where it looks like you could play soccer. I think they have a daytime/daycare/camp service. They have a couple places you can reserve for private functions. I have gone to this park for a lot of years - and if I had to pay to get it - I would buy a annual pass. (it is free to get in) Most of the parks in Columbus are worth going to. You will see deer, turtles(there is a creek that runs through the park), frogs, lots of birds (basic wildlife). Even a big ole snake that was crossing the road once - LOL

A super hiking park. Moved here from northern California. Didn't expect much. But this park delighted and surprised me. Its so close to where I live. Has lots of trails. I fell in love. Wonderful Ohio. Wonderful

Our family loves the discovery area with the dirt pile, boulders, logs, stage. My 3, and 9 year old enjoy playing on all of the obstacles. We also went to the folk festival this year. Smaller then I expected, but really fun.

Highbanks is well maintained in all seasons. It has miles of beautiful and safe trails. Love walking by the Adena mound. The history of the area is amazing.

The stream that runs through the metropark is a favorite. Kids love it.

The nature center is amazing too.
