Werribee Zoo have recently introduced a Sunset tour. It is similar to the day tour they run. The added bonus is you get to see the feeding of some animals - we had an informative session on the hippos including a close up experience of feeding time. As some of the animals are active at night, they loved the attention they were receiving once the sun set. A must experience event.

We went to this zoo on Good Friday, so we expected to be with a lot of people. I think there were heaps of people but the zoo is so large they spread really well.
The animal presentations were great, there were often not enough visual access to what was happening due to the numbers, but we still saw quite a bit.
There are 2 safari types, one half hour one that is free and second $50 off road safari which goes for over an hour. I can not recommend the off road safari highly enough!! This is a must do for this park. Gets you so up close and personal with some amazing animals. And this is good for all ages. The transport for the off road only seats a small number and everyone has front row! So good.
A great day at a wonderful zoo.

Excellent time on the safari bus then a great scary walk among the dinosaurs. While it is a bit of a drive from the main city of Melbourne the animals at the zoo are quite different experience than the Melbourne zoo.

We took our three boys Sunday and spent the whole day at the zoo. The safari bus was excellent and we saw tons of cool animals. The actual animal enclosures at the rest of the park are VERY open/large meaning it’s easy to not see animals from the designated look out spots. Keep walking and you’ll likely see them from another spot. We did the paid extra cost zoorassic Dino adventure for one son and it was ok. A ranger takes a small group, 3-5 kids and their adults through the same Dino area everyone else visits and spends about an hour explaining Dino facts and interacting with the kids. Our ranger was great and shared a REAL 75 million year old Dino tooth with the kids. The tour was nice, keep in mind it’s extra, and only for patient/hardcore Dino lovers. The rest of the park was nice, you can’t get super close to the animals but the kids loved it all. YOU CAN BRING FOOD INTO THE PARK. Otherwise you’re spending $15-20 a plate for lunch. The hippo area was one of our favs with all the hippos AND activities for the kids.
