We stayed here in November 2010, not really knowing what to expect from the Hotel or Strahan itself.
We were pleasantly surprised by both.
We spent 10 days in Tassie, only in Strahan for one night in a Harbour view hill top room, but this was the highlight of our Tassie experience.
Costs a little bit more than your average hotel room ( $145 ) but well worth the little extra.
Buffet night in the hill top restaurant was great value for money.
Views of the Harbour are outstanding.
We also did a trip on the Wilderness experience steam train, again a bit pricey, but worth every penny, highly recommended

As part of our tour of Tassie, the wife and I rolled into Strahan without pre booking accommodation, this is something you probably shouldn't do as they were filling up fast when we turned up. We obtained a Harbour View Room with a King Bed....the King Bed was simply two king singles merged together...I can live with that....what I can't live with in the fact they were two different heights!...either way the room is really neat and tidy, perfect views over the marina and harbour...great balcony to sit out and enjoy a few beers...

We dined at the buffet in View 42, what a fantastic feed, freshest Oysters, salmon, everything was fantastic, that is one thing I loved about Tassie, all the food was spot on and plentiful....we also enjoyed a few drinks at the bar while simply admiring the view. I can't fault that area of the village....for breakfast we wandered down to 'Baxters' in near the pub...

If your going to stay at Strahan, they pretty much have you snookered....do yourself a favour..grab a Harbourview Room..just request a single story king bed!!

It cost us $160 for the night....

My husband and I and friends, have recently returned from a short holiday on the West Coast. Whilst there we stayed at your Strahan Cottages, we found them to be very roomy for the four of us, well equipped and very charming with lots of character. We did a trip on the Abt Railway which was fantastic, the steam train was beautifully restored. The Tasmanian wines and local cheeses and produce served throughout the trip were perfect. The service was first class enhanced by the excellent service given by our host Paul Clark, what an asset he is to this wonderful tourism venture.. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip and will be recommending it to our family and friends. Its great to know that our tourism industry is in excellent hands. We also enjoyed Tapas at your View 42' Restaurant & Bar another asset with breathtaking water views.

We stayed in the executive villas - great views. Rooms were split level, a bit dated/motel style but nice nevertheless. The restaurant was closed and they were serving a pizza and tapas menu - both were delicious (one of us is vegetarian and loads of choice). Would stay here again. Have read it is noicy here - we didn't hear any noise whatsoever - then again - it is winter and not busy.

Reception staff were friendly on arrival, we went to our room only to discover that it was facing the carpark, on ringing reception they organised for a room overlooking the water (for a little extra of course) and dropped the keys up to us. We stayed two nights, on the first night we went to Hamers Pub for dinner, and boy was that a bad choice. It was trainee night and the trainer had lost her patience! Our order was wrong, the wine was wrong and the waiting staff didn't understand basic requests, very frustrating after a day of driving!! On the second day we made the wiser choice of View 42 where we enjoyed a delightful dinner and some beautiful wine. Breakfast was your standard hotel fare and nothing to complain about! The Western Wilderness railway was an amazing day trip and worth every cent (just make sure you find a voucher somewhere in all the tourist brochures before you arrive in Strahan). Oh, the room was a little like something out of the 1980's and as one other reviewer said like something from roadside trips but it was clean, quiet and the bed was very, very comfortable!
