Thanks for taking the time to post your review, glad to hear you enjoyed the view they are truly amazing.
Great location at the top of the harbour, 5 minute walk down stairs to wharves, pub, restaurants, cafes. Friendly staff. Rooms vary from street level, upper harbour views (access from outer stair way or car park, garden view rooms. Garden view rooms (we stayed in) have a day bed as a lounge, that was showing age,not comfortable. Bar restaurant nice, bar/ cafe has a terrace over looking harbour.
Thank you for taking the time to post your comments. We do have a great location that is close to everything Strahan has to offer. We have 142 rooms that vary in location and style.
Originally we were in one of the joined cottages Lettes cottage, upon entering the room there was a very strong unbearable smell. We asked for another room which they gave no problem. Stayed in the top floor of the federation cottage. Room was nice, good bathroom and a balcony. Nice view of the bay
Dear Helen P
Thanks for taking the time to post your review. Federation Cottage has a great aspect overlooking Macquarie Harbour and is so close to Hamers Grill.
The accm seems to be part of a chain with cradle mountain and Coles bay, it was the least attractive of the three, but still OK.
The resort chain seems to have invested in the vill Age with the hotel and some other buildings and businesses (the very friendly girl in the bottle shop knew the general manager of the cradle mountain hotel we had met the previous night).
The local short walking opportunities were very good, although the published tours are not as advertised re availability. The gordon river cruise was not running in the after noon, and we only discovered the 'every second day' for the train once we got there.
We were able to spot 3 wild platypus in one of the local streams just befor dusk, I'm not going to give details as they don't need crowds, but if you have a think about it and do a day recon it's not to hard.
Had dinner I. The local fish and chip shop with a bottle of wine from the pub - recommend this
Hi David P
Thanks for posting your review on your recent stay at Strahan Village. RACT purchased three iconic destinations (Cradle Mountain Hotel, Freycinet Lodge and Strahan Village) 18 months ago and since then we have invested heavily in our product.
The Afternoon Highlights Cruise on board the Lady Jane Franklin 2 runs daily from the 27th December - end February more information is available at the Strahan activities center located on the wharf.
Glad to hear you were able to see 3 wild platypus its a well kept secret but easy to find if you know what you are looking for.
The Strahan Village is ideally situated above the township with breathtaking views of historic Macquarie Harbour. It's just a five minute walk to the harbour front.
The rooms are very comfortable with generous bathroom and shower and equally generous lounge area to relax in your room and let the view sink in.
Facilities for breakfast and dinner are excellent with the stunning views of the harbour.
Thank you for taking the time to post your review. Our main restaurant View 42 is not only great value but is complemented with amazing view over Macquarie Harbour.
My wife and I stayed here for one night. We had a room up on the hill on the second level of the building. It was a pain having to carry the ports up the stairs and across the ramp but I was prepared for this from other reviews I had read on this website but I wanted the view. Check in was easy with happy and pleasant staff preparing to decorate the office and waiting area for Christmas. The room and bathroom was very clean and spacious with everything we required in a motel room. The view from the verandah was fantastic. We sat out there in the late afternoon with our wine and looked out across the bay to the ocean and the town, what a relaxing experience after driving from Hobart. The bed was comfortable and the area around us quite. It was so quite that we got to see both the male and female blue wren which was an unexpected surprise as they are my wife's favourite birds. We have no negatives with our stay at Strahan Village.
Thanks for taking the time to post your review. The view from our hill top harbour view rooms are amazing. Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us
