The hilltop room was very disappointing as it was facing the car park. Our room was on the ground floor and the parked cars were just a few inches from the windows. And of course the noise of engine and people was annoying too. The room was a bit shabby too. If you book this hotel, book a room with the sea view!

For restaurants, we tried the fish cafe. It was too expensive for kind of fast food like fish n chips. The pub of Hamer's Hotel was also not value for money too. I would recommend Risky Cove, tasty food and nice sunset view.

Must have been.Bedding old and tatty.Smelt of a thousand guests. The family were very unhappy, here.Fish Cafe-$24 for fish and chips???Is that the normal price in a fishing town.....Will never go back.

Reception desk while lovely and friendly were very confused about all aspects of our stay including the length of time we were to stay, the number of people and the rate we were to be charged. HOWEVER the location was perfect, very comfortable and ticked every box for a group of mates on holiday.

Room Tip: Try to be in the cottages - I think the townhouses would get a lot of noise from the pub below.

Walls of rooms are paper thin. I was disturbed by neighbours both in the evening and in the morning. I even heard the neighbour's alarm go off, shouting, taps running. Dinner and breakfast prohibitively expensive. And didn't appreciate the unexpected sting in the tail - a 1.5% credit card surcharge on my bill. They will direct you to a number of their recommended restaurants . . . Not much in Strahan. Best give it a miss

My wife and I stayed there on Christmas day. We arrived quite prepared to go back home if there was no accommodation available, but we were pleasantly surprised by the accommodation and the restaurant. We stayed in a cottage on the main street. It is obviously a while since the cottages were last renovated, but they have been kept in good condition and were suitably comfortable. We were happy with what we got for the rate, bearing in mind it is obviously an upmarket resort, it is not budget accommodation, so we did not expect anything cheap and we did not want to stay in the garden rooms up the hill.

We found the restaurant's christmas dinner buffet was excellent and reasonably priced given the location and quality of food. Service was friendly and excellent.

Room Tip: The cottages right on the main street might be noisy if you are there Saturday night. They were fine...
