4 lovely meals had today at The Hairy Giraffe! Men had the beef burgers & the ladies went with the chicken burger, Summer chicken & pumpkin & pesto. Everyone enjoyed their meals & the service was very friendly. We will be back!

It was pouring with rain so this was a wonderful place to stop off for breakfast. We were not disappointed. Fresh organic food. Wonderful staff and service. We had a pram and baby with us and they were so accommodating.

Tried out this place not long after it opened. Since they had just moved their business from Margate, we assumed that they knew what they were doing - wrong! The steak was so tough it could have done great service as a doormat and when we complained we were told that they weren't happy with their meat supplier and were going to change to another - well why serve it in the first place?
Our other meal was the sweet potato boat which was palatable but as far as the accompaniments for both mains went, all I can say is that the chef - much praised by the 'sweetie darling' owner - must be an accomplished opener of tins and probably failed everything else at chef school.
The dessert was another horror. Cheap ice cream between a couple of indestructible cookies topped with violently purple fairy floss. Sugar between sugar with sugar on top - UGH!
To make things worse, all this food (and I use the word loosely) was vastly overpriced.
Getting on for $30 for one sweet potato with a few trimmings.
The staff were friendly and attentive so no problems on that score.
To try to be fair we decided to give them a second chance and returned some months later for breakfast. While I can't particularly fault their breakfast, which was all fine, it was a pretty pedestrian affair. Much better breakfasts can be had just across the road (and I'm not talking about Banjo's). That's where we'll be from now on.

Called in today, had a lovely yummy home made chocolate brownie for afternoon tea. Just perfect. Menu looked really good. Will go back for a proper meal next time we pass that way. Really nice and friendly staff.

Rang to book for dinner and was called "darling" by the woman who answered the phone (probably 3 times). We ordered "seafood paella" and when it arrived it was all too obvious that the chef did not know what a paella was. What we were presented with was a seafood risotto, with no resemblance whatsoever to a paella. It was a very average risotto at that. I think we were called "my love" a number of times during the meal. I think the idea was to be "matey", something we can do without when dining out.
