Owner description: A scenic 90-minute drive south from Hobart, one of southern Tasmania’s must-see attractions. You can walk high above the forest canopy and share the lives of the forest giants from up-close, looking down to the place where the wild waters of the Huon and Picton Rivers mingle. The 600-metre walkway ends at a spectacular cantilevered platform 50 metres above the riverbank, with views extending to the mountains of the World Heritage Area. Further into the forest follow the trail to the 2 swinging bridges or enjoy a peaceful walk along the Huon river, get up close to see young and mature Huon pines growing in their natural riverine rainforest environment. Expolore paddling, drifting and splashing on a raft or kayak through bouncy rapids and quiet stretches of the Picton and Huon River. Enjoy local Tasmanian produce in the cafe. Can't fit it all in one day stay overnight in the lodge, cabin or camp in your motor home. Opening times: October to March 9am – 5pm April to September 10am – 4pm
Useful Information: Bathroom facilities, Food available for purchase, Wheelchair access, Activities for young children, Activities for older children

Located ar the end of a 26 km windy (ie "bendy") road from Geeveston and about an hour south of Hobart, this popular tourist attraction is well worth the $26.10 (seniors disc) admission. Staff were really helpful and friendly with special thanks to Ian whom we bumped into on about 3 separate occasions during our 4 hour visit. We completed the Huon Pine forest walk, the Air Walk and the Two Bridges (suspension) walk and finished it all off with a hang glider ride on a zip line arrangement ($15). Many monster trees, lots of tree ferns and if you are quiet you might see the odd wallaby (ish) nearby. Enjoy a handmade ice cream afterwards.

Can thoroughly recommend a visit to Tahune. There are optional walks and a level of fitness is required to negotiate some of the steps. We visited in February and there were lots of March flies, but only around the ticketbox area. None were seen once we entered the forest. The views from the airwalk were stunning. Staff were extremely friendly and the food very tasty.

Such mind blowing scenery set amongst some of Tasmania's most stunning old growth forest.. The Airwalknis a stroke of engineering masterpiece.. Congratulations to the government at the time of construction for its conviction & foresite.. This wonderful facility brings one up close & personal with scenery not usually possible .. The airwalk is easy and a definite bucket list must do!!
