My wife and I recently traveled around Australia to celebrate her birthday. As part of our tour, we spent two nights at the Edge of the Bay resort. What an amazing place! We were in an Ocean view suite and the views were unsurpassed. From our patio and room we had commanding views of The Hazards and Coles Bay, with the sounds of the waves creating a lovely calming setting. On top of that, the beach was only a 30 metre walk from our patio. It is also a mere five minute drive into the park or two minutes into town.
The room was a good size and very well appointed. An extremely comfortable king size bed was positioned to take maximum advantage of the vista. The en suite had a wonderful heated floor, just right for any chilly mornings. The kitchen is fully equipped, less a microwave or stove. The fridge was of a sufficient size for us to store our food and beverages. There was more than enough cutlery and accoutrements for us to prepare a charcuterie platter on the second night of our stay.
On our first night we ate at Lure, which is a restaurant on the property. The food was wonderful. My wife had a truffle pasta, which was generously covered with fine Tassie truffles. We were so impressed with our dinner that we enjoyed breakfast there the following morning. I have to say there is nothing like freshly-cooked truffle scrambled eggs and fine coffee to start the day.
We have stayed at other properties on the Freycinet peninsula. I would happily say that, when we return, Edge of the Bay will be where we will book. It's a lovely property, with great wildlife and amenities, managed by a friendly, professional and welcoming team, at a price which belies what it delivers.
