“Tasmania major attraction”
Review of Wineglass Bay

A beautiful day out to this major attraction of Tasmania. Awesome view of the Wineglass Bay, though not able to capture the wineglass shape completely, it’s charming layers of deep blue sea and the bright blue sky is remarkable

The Cape Tourville lockout is as picturesque and it’s where you could see the spots where whaling done in the past

We have a good nice stopover at the honeymoon beach for a walk or swim but taking pictures alone is good enough to last

The last treat of the day at the Kate Berry Farm was excellent with a wonderful taste of their raspberry and lavender ice creams

Thanks to Den our guide keep sharing interesting places and great music on the coach along the way

Thank Diana C

We cruised to wineglass bay 7 years ago and it was gorgeous. This time we climbed to the lookout and then down to the beach - absolutely gorgeous and is a must do.

The beauty of this beach is more the location it's in, than what's in the beach itself. The hike to the shoreline takes about 3 hours return, with quite a number of steps to be taken. Halfway is the Wineglass Bay Lookout which does provide a nice break. Once arrived, the beach itself is quite ordinary, yet the thing that stands out is the absence of people. There were never more than 10 other people on the shore at a time during our visit. The surroundings are beautiful and pristine with tall eucalyptus forest backing the beach in place of buildings, Mt.Amos in the background instead of apartment blocks and kangaroos on the sand in place of crowds. Do mind, there are no toilet blocks or changing rooms as well, together with lifeguards or other amenities. The water itself was extremely cold at the time (it was mid-February), being around 18 degrees Celsius, accompanied by big dumping waves. At last, this beach is definitely recommended as it's remoteness and freedom make it stand out.

As a beach it is quite average. It’s more the location withinFNP and/ or the hike / boat ride to get there that makes the experience.

Freycinet National Park is one of the most beautiful national parks in Tasmania. There are lots of walks if your up to it. There are fees applied for entrance. Beaches inside the national park are quiet and stunning. Wineglass Bay is one of them. Challenging walk from the carpark to Wineglass Bay beach but well worth the effort.
