“Excellent coffee and great ambience”

Ambience is the word, walking into Giacondas new premise on Rooke street is an experience. It feels like you are transported into the real world, not the remote north west of Tasmania. The coffee roasting machine is sitting there all shiny in front of you as you purchase your coffees and cakes. But if you intend to sit down you walk into the lounge area with a beautiful fire in the slowburner stove you can get a comfy lounge seat or a more conventional table and chair in the beautiful lounge. Fantastic furniture and decorations are striking... Oh, food? Sure, water served instantly with a menu full of nice choices. We choose the brioche which was superb with scrambled eggs and crispy bacon and dash of relish on seriously nice toast.... Pleasure to come here. Will be back...

A beautiful meal topped off by excellent customer service. Very well organised considering there were a number of private functions on at the venue. Highly recommend

The decor is beautiful ,found the prices rather expensive, have never paid $5 for a small coffee.
I think the staff need to be more attentive & friendlier...wont be rushing back

The decor and the feel to Verona is beautiful, service was also quite good.
Sadly the food was a let down. We ordered a rustique salad and a spinach and ricotta cannelloni. The salad my friend ordered did not contain bacon, but was replaced with cut up bits of ham. She also found a hair in her salad.
My cannelloni was horrible, the spinach and ricotta filling tasted as if it was frozen, lacked in the homely taste I was expecting from a place with a menu like this.
Second time eating here, both times I was unimpressed.

The cafe smelt lightly of burnt coffee, which is a let down.
I've been here for coffee before, and both time it was sub-par.
Which is a let down from what giaconda coffee used to be.

Lastly, the cakes and biscuits are exceptional.

Enjoyed my saturday night meal. Limited menu but pizza maker will create to your liking. Staff very attentive. Wine is local, little bit expensive at $40 a bottle. Menu was only pizza due to staff member being ill - was looking forward to pasta. Atmosphere is good, but the music is lovely, but not italian. Nice comfy furniture. Tables not too close to other customers. Wait staff very professional. Will be back to try the pasta.
There was nothing on the menu for children, so i assume they are seeking an adult customer base.
