What a great little cabin! Very cool looking on the outside. We stayed in a small cabin for the night, very clean and tidy. It was better than expected, the pictures online don't do it justice. It was lovely and warm all night and nice and quiet. The shower was so good and large, just what we needed after a day of driving! The lady that checked us in was lovely! She also gave us chocolate and Port on arrival - lovely!

These cabins are a great home base for exploring Lake St. Clair with one exception; the bed was so soft and lumpy we could barely sleep. When we sat down on it the first day and the corner sank several inches we knew we were in trouble! Everything else is top notch and the owner is very generous with amenities and keeps the place clean and comfortable even stoking the fire while you are out for the day!

When there are new beds, this place will be five stars.

Some people are hard to please. At reception we were terrified because of reviews but a little banter with hostess was good. Every self contained unit should have plates and dishes washed by guest. We were offered and accepted breakfast and the chocs and port were readily accepted. The cabin was spotless and well appointed and the heater had been turned on in advance. No complaints.

Like many others, our stay got off to a poor start with the awful service received at check-in. The woman has no idea about hospitality and customer service. When parking at the cabin I was concentrating on not hitting the fence only to be berated for not watching her arms directing me where to park. And when she walked passed the cabin the next morning, no "Hi" or "Good morning", just a snarly face. Absolutely atrocious.

The cabin itself was adequate if a little small for the price charged. Our cabin at Cradle Mountain was 3 or 4 times the size for the same price.
Cooking is not recommended given that there is only a microwave and a 1 plate induction cooker. And there's nowhere within 30km to buy groceries anyway.

Would I recommend this place to others - not really, no.

I've just read some other reviews, including one about a previous good experience with a man called John and some about unwelcoming reception. I believe that the man recently died and perhaps other people are struggling to keep things going as before. We found the accommodation to be a strange mixture, being much more attractive and comfortable inside our 2 bedroom chalet than the rather dull outside suggested. It was a convenient place for us to stay 2 nights, giving us the chance to catch up with washing and do some lovely walks around the shores of nearby Lake St Clair. We also enjoyed a meal at the Hungry Wombat cafe and visiting The Wall (wooden sculptures) nearby.
