The best times to go are probably summer when the ground is dry as the walk round Lake Dove for 2 hours can take more time if you need to watch your step over slush, snow, ice, pools of water up a d down steep inclines.
Meanwhile the scenery is breathtaking, snowy branches as on a Christmas card and the blue lake beneath, ever so elusive as you wind your way through. Fortunately wooden bannisters are provided along the more treacherous stretches. You may need to rest at spots after a steep ascent. There are picnic tables so it's a good idea to have your lunch there but be careful of the aggressive currowongs who may dive to share your food!
Signage is minimal so you may veer off and end up with a longer trek. There's a little hut on the shorter trek. You'll get pebbles in your shoes, water seeps in but dries off quickly.
Bring more water as the rainwater at the car park may not meet required standards and the toilet's only at the carpark.
A stimulating walk for the robust but if you're not that happy with less than firm ground, may find it challenging.
Wildlife spotted is fantastic on the way to the trek, wombats and wallabies seen grazing.

We stayed in the park for 2 nights and just wished we had longer. Everything in the park is so well set up and the shuttle buses to the various sights run regularly. All walks are well signposted and maintained. We especially liked the Enchanted Walk and the Dove Lake/Boat Shed although we had rain during our visit this didn’t stop us enjoying the beautiful surrounds.

Nowhere it says that you can't take your car while Shuttles are running. I understand why you're not allowed but atleast information should be provided so tourists can plan. Place was beautiful, if you love hiking then its paradise.

A very cold a wet day did not hamper our visit and although challenged with the onset of snow and potental black ice, the scenery was nonetheless breathtaking. Make sure you check the weather forecast before attempting the drive.
