A very cold a wet day did not hamper our visit and although challenged with the onset of snow and potental black ice, the scenery was nonetheless breathtaking. Make sure you check the weather forecast before attempting the drive.

Don’t bother going there in winter as they close the park when there’s snow.

They should have just warned people on the park website that the shuttle buses stop running when it is snowing.

They have plenty of snow ploughs but apparently don’t use them to get the buses running on the last short stretch of road to the lake which is a joke.

I visited in July, it was snowing so it’s not advisable to do the summit track. If you wish to drive to Dove lake for parking, u need to enter before 8.30am. Otherwise u will have to stop at the visitor center and take shuttle bus in. There are a number of trek you can choose base on ur comfort level. Do watch out for the last timing for the shuttle bus

Drive from launceston and arrived around 1:30 pm. Settled down at wilderness lodge, which has given us one lodge earlier than check in time. It was a windy day and visitor center recommended us to take shuttle to last stop dove lake, have a glimpse of the beautiful lake, then start the walk along the lake Lilla track, then along to to Ronny creek. This is a easy path and well marked. The most interesting is at the end of the track near Ronny creek, there are a number of wombags, and this is a common place where wombags reside. Whole track takes 1.5 hours in leisure pace, and catch the last bus that start from dove lake at 4:00pm .
Plan ahead to arrive early if you plan to take this track before the last shuttle bus schedule.
