This was a great option for the cost. We looked at staying at the Cradle Mountain Lodge but it cost twice the amount. The rooms at the Chateau were quite daggy and had a real motel feel about them. But they were well equipped and comfortable. The rooms could definitely do with a reno. The breakfasts was lovely and very filling. Overall, it was a great option for Cradle Mountain. Note: dinners here were expensive, so we often had tea at Cradle Mountain Lodge Tavern.

I was very dissappointed with my stay there. Firstly there was no designated parking for guests only, so I had to drive around the carpark for 15 minutes after checking in. Staff were of little help and were rude in some instances. Buffet meals were of poor standard and waiting staff incompetent. Rooms are extremely overpriced for what they are (worse than most inner-city hotels), there are plenty of cheaper an better places to stay in the local area. The term "balcony" was very misleading, the balconies were more like the size of window boxes.

We thought the accommodations were overpriced compared to people's experiences staying at Cradle Mountain Lodge. We ate at both places and the set-up and staff at the Lodge are far superior and the food was much better at the Lodge as well.

We ate at the buffet at the Chateau one night and then at the a la carte restaurant. The service at the a la carte restaurant was abyssmal and it took us forever to finish our meals. At some point we saw the people at the neighboring table go and pour themselves water because there were no staff around. Our waitress was incredibly rude and the food was terrible for the price. The buffet is a much better option.

The Chateau looks great on the outside, but the service and ammenities were lacking compared to what you could get at Cradle Mountain Lodge for a comparable price. Next time, we will definitely stay at the Lodge.

I stayed at the Chateau for 4 nights and found it a wonderful place to stay. I found the staff extremely friendly and helpful, while the room was comfortable, roomy and warm, which was important considering it was the middle of winter! It also had a lovely view.

The wilderness photo galley was the highlight, I'd highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Cradle Mountain, it's absolutely breathtaking! Grey Gum restaurant is also highly recommended; although it's more expensive than the Chateau's other restaurant (which, by the way, serves a good buffet breakfast), the food was gorgeous!

Although not the best hotel in the world (the rooms had a motel feel to them and were a bit dated : by far the worst decor of any federal hotel venue) this was really quite good value for money in comparision to other accomodation options in cradle mountain, being far cheaper than the top option at the lodge at almost half the price for one night stay, and i would recommend the chateau for a short stay. The staff were some of the friendliest and helpful of anywhere i have ever stayed and the buffet dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were really good for a buffet. FYI - We did venture to the lodges day spa for some treatments (which were wonderful - highly recommend) not knowing that there is a day spa at the chateau but i cant comment on how good this is. I personally think the other reviewers are being a bit harsh.
