Went to restuaraunt for dinner buffet. Food was very good and good variety. $52 A I thought was reasonable value. Some srtaff did seem not to be trained well. We were 2 couples and when we asked waitress to run 2 bills she said it wouldnt matter as it would be sorted at time of payment. Howevere at payment time this couldnt be done as wait staff had everything mixed up on the bills.

Room Tip: Only used restuaraunt this time

Double bed plus single bed in one room. Plenty of space. Excellent buffet breakfast with plenty of options. It had snowed the day before so the view was just lovely. Hallways a little chilly. Nice to have fireplaces lit and maintained.

There are many things to like about this place. The gallery is outstanding, the fires in the common areas are very welcome, the meals in the restaurant are generous and all the staff i met were smiling and will to assist. However, all of this has the potential to be overshadowed by the totally inadequate heating in the rooms. My room was very cold and the heater completely unfit for purpose. In a location where it regularly snows (and did on this occasion) it is not acceptable to attempt to heat a decent sized room with a heater that puts out so little heat it can safely be touched by bare hands when running at its maximum setting.
The bed was a complete contrast to the heating situation, very large and extremely comfortable.
It may be that I was unlucky and managed to get the only cold room in the place, (after talking to other guests this seems unlikely) but if so, i suggest you do not stay in room 46.

The dinner buffet is pretty expensive and the food they serve is pretty subpar. The only thing worth mentioning about this hotel is the Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery. It had lots of arts and fun things on display, I had fun visiting it with friends.

Hotel was nice and clean, staff were professional but far from friendly or welcoming. But THE FOOD!! OMG! Worse than army food! The crumbed fish was straight out of a Mcains frozen box, the burger bun was so stale it crumbled into dust when bitten, the pattie was also frozen rubbish, then at dinner, the seafood chowder was clearly Campbell's potato and leak soup mixed with cheap tinned shrimp (the little tiny ones)...absolutely atrocious. Paid for 3 nights but happily left after 1 and went to "cradle mountain lodge" closer to dove lake....amazingly friendly service, fantastic cabins (with atmosphere) and best of all (apart from the wombats at your cabin door) awesome food! Great pub style meals in the bistro, and excellent food in the restaurant. If the lodge can order in fresh produce, why can't the other "hotel"?....book cradle mountain lodge instead!!! Trust me!
