The architect that built this place should stay in it for just one night! You can hear people getting out of bed 5 rooms down and it sounds like they are entering your room! The acoustics in the dining room are the same standard as the food: suitable only for pigs! The checkout process took an age, the new years eve "function" was the same buffet as the night before but at a 50% premium, the 100% markup on some wines is just a disgusting money grab. It is a real shame as Cradle Mtn is an amazing location. This hotel should be clearfelled and a decent architect and hotel mamangement team should be employed to build something in keeping with area, sort of like the place just down the road...

We stayed here for just a single night in the King Spa Split level room (the best they had) - it was a fairly average motel style room. The king bed was fine but the bathroom was outdated, but clean enough.

The Wilderness photography gallery was pleasant and free for guests, however it is only $5 for non-guests anyway.

The in house activities were very limited, and your only limited to a fuzzy 4 channels of in room local television. Bring lots of magazines!

Previous reviews have stated the Hotel is lacking atmosphere, and this is entirely true. The bar area has all the ambience of a airport seating area, and Quolls restaurant was no different. There were lots of people at the Hotel (as seen in the restaurant) however there were just 4 people in the rather large bar area at 8PM and we made a hasty retreat for our room. The lack of atmosphere in the hotel reflects on guests and this obviously also reflects on the staff as the majority were unfriendly and did not seem to like their job.

Speaking of Quolls restaurant, we decided to go to here for dinner. Be very careful - the in room guide shows a normal Entree-Main-Dessert menu. However upon going in and sitting down we were told it was a buffet night and to help ourselves. The food was very very average, and like most people there we left in a hurry. When we went to pay we got the bill $39 each for a buffet we spent 15 minutes eating from. This price was not advertised anywhere in the hotel, not suprisingly. Do yourself a favour avoid like the plague!

Amazingly the buffet breakfast in the same restaurant (which was free in our package) was really good.

Overall a dissapointing experience, compared to Federal Hotels other casinos, this hotel is very ordinary.

I stayed at this hotel back in October 2006 with my husband. Overall, the room was clean but i found this hotel to be overpriced for what it offered. Also, we did not enjoy the food at the hotel restaurant. We had the buffet dinner offered at one of the restaurants and the food was worst than what you would find at a high school cafeteria! We spoke to management about this, and they were kind enough to provide us with an apology and reimbursement of the meal.

We also had lunch the next day of our stay, and were disappointed with the overpriced sandwich. Having come from the Freycinet lodge (which we stayed at before the Cradle mountain chateau on our tour in tasmania) where the food was wonderful, we were expecting the same at Cradle mountain chateau since they are owned by the same organization. However, we were truly disappointed and would not return. I suggest for those of you looking to stay in the cradle mountain area...you may want to check out the cradle mountain lodge instead.

This was a great option for the cost. We looked at staying at the Cradle Mountain Lodge but it cost twice the amount. The rooms at the Chateau were quite daggy and had a real motel feel about them. But they were well equipped and comfortable. The rooms could definitely do with a reno. The breakfasts was lovely and very filling. Overall, it was a great option for Cradle Mountain. Note: dinners here were expensive, so we often had tea at Cradle Mountain Lodge Tavern.

I was very dissappointed with my stay there. Firstly there was no designated parking for guests only, so I had to drive around the carpark for 15 minutes after checking in. Staff were of little help and were rude in some instances. Buffet meals were of poor standard and waiting staff incompetent. Rooms are extremely overpriced for what they are (worse than most inner-city hotels), there are plenty of cheaper an better places to stay in the local area. The term "balcony" was very misleading, the balconies were more like the size of window boxes.
