staff were helpful and polite. the bus rides are well run and you dont have to wait long for them. we thought for the price it was worth it. they have items in the shop just in case you forget your jacket/ spray coat and other things to keep you warm . plus camping gear .the car park isnt great but it is under construction.

Deepest freshwater lake in Australia. Only stopped there for lunch, but there were many hikers, a shop and coffee shop as well as many trail possibilities.

We had a two bedroom cabin for our party of one couple and two unrelated adults. It was quite comfortable for our one night there - we had brought our own food with us. it was a little tight around the table but we managed. didn't use the tv. There is a good area at the door for hanging wet gear. We were able to park right outside the front door (I had requested this on booking because we are elderly) One thing we noticed was that the building shakes a bit - at first we thought we were experiencing earthquakes - as people move around. At AUD$300 per night for the standard of accommodation it is reasonably expensive so we only stayed one night but bear in mind it is a long way from anywhere. It took us about 10 minutes to walk down to the visitor centre to catch the shuttle bus up to Dove Lake. There is also a big car park there if you want to drive.

We loved our stay here! We came prepared to cook our own dinner and breakfast, and the cabin has everything we needed to do that. Check-in was easy, there were plenty of options for food and entertainment if needed, the cabins were clean and spacious with access to wildlife and it was beautiful and warm inside! Really enjoyed our stay!

The accommodation here is cabins or chalets located right in the bush. The buildings are suitably separated and private and the surrounding bush has been left in pristine condition. The interiors are tasteful, comfortable, nicely furnished, cosy and very well designed and large picture windows almost bring the bush inside. The spa overlooking the bush is a delightful and relaxing experience and sitting in the spa looking out at large trees and other greenery covered with moss and lichen is a unique experience. The fully equipped kitchen is excellent and the heating very adequate with a gas fire and electric wall heating as well. We also enjoyed a good meal in the onsite restaurant and the staff throughout our stay were friendly and attentive. Highly recommended!!

In ApriI 2018, my wife and I booked accommodation at Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village for February 2019, 10 months in advance. Their agent booking.com confirmed the booking and recorded all our details. In January 2019, my Visa card was renewed (as happens with all credit cards periodically) and my new expiry date was updated with booking.com, along with my mobile contact number. However, CMWV cancelled my booking 2 days before our arrival (while we were travelling) without contacting us! When we arrived to check in, we were blandly told they cancelled it because they couldn't process the Visa payment and couldn't contact us. Clearly, they had not bothered to contact their agent booking.com, which had all the correct up to date information. (None of our other 10 Tasmanian bookings were cancelled, so those establishments had no issues with accessing our information). To rub salt in, CMWV stated they were now fully booked and we had to head off (in the rain) looking for alternative accommodation. Beware: this could happen to you - book somewhere else! Footnote: Cradle Mountain Hotel was an excellent last minute substitute and we are very grateful (see separate review).

Great place to stay. Wonderful accommodation and so close to the Dove lake, so much to see and do. Go before it’s lost to commercial interest. Animals abound and the wilderness is astounding. Throughly enjoyed the stay.

Room tip: Quiet, dark and so private.
