Going on a guided walk at Inala is a must do experience. Cat was incredibly knowledgeable and we learnt SO much as we walked around the reserve. Walking through other forests we've been able to notice new things based on our learnings from the Inala tour. Inala really does instill an appreciation of the bush and the magic of an ecosystem. Cats ability to pick up different bird songs was amazing, we saw many birds including the Forty-spotted Pardalotes, the Robins (flame/scarlet/pink!), the green rosella and just as we were finishing our walk the Grey Goshawk (all white type). While this was our first time to Inala we're hoping to now do some of their other tours run in Australia and...(when its possible again) internationally.
Thank you very much for your lovely review. We are so delighted that you enjoyed your tour of the Inala Conservation Reserve and that our wonderful Tasmanian birdlife was out on show. Marvellous that the resident Grey Goshawk came to farewell you.
We can't wait to welcome you on some of our Australian and International tours.
Cat's night tour was the highlight of our visit to Tasmania, let alone Bruny Island!
Her wealth of knowledge, thoughtful insights and clear passion for wildlife and conservation were well above our expectations. She tailored the tour to our interests and guided us to a range of environments and species across Bruny, engaging us with interesting facts and conversation all the while. Some highlights included seeing eastern quolls, a light-morph wallaby and light-morph brush-tailed possum, getting up-close with fledgling short-tailed shearwaters, and stopping to look up for breath-taking views of the Milky Way.
Cant express our appreciation enough and looking forward to returning for more tours!
What a lovely review, thank you so much for letting us know that you had a great time exploring Bruny by night with Cat. We are overjoyed that you had a great time and that some of the wonderful nocturnal wildlife of the island came out to say hello, including the fantastic Eastern Quolls.
We shall hopefully see you the next time you are back in the South.
Three of us had a personalised birding tour with Cat. It was a wonderful tour, walking through the beautiful Inala property. Cat's knowledge of birds and plants was exceptional. Highly, highly recommended. Next time we're on Bruny we'd love to stay at Inala.
Thank you for your review and your kind words, we are very happy you discovered Inala and came for a tour. it would be our great pleasure to have you come and stay in one of our cottages on the Inala Reserve next time you are on beautiful Bruny.
I was on an afternoon birding tour with guide Cat earlier in April. It was a great experience with lots of birds to be seen despite the 'unusual' timing dictated by travel arrangements. Cat has an immense knowledge about the birds, plants and Inala's history and an astonishing ability to exactly describe the location of a bird in the paddock or in the canopy. The Forty-spotted pardalots were most pleasing but by no means the only birds see. And if you can't fit in a guided tour or an overnight stay at Inala at least consider a stroll through the lovely Jurassic garden with its many interpretative signs explaining the Gondwana origin of the many plants on show.
Thank you so much, we are thrilled you could come on a tour at Inala and glad that the afternoon walk of the Conservation Reserve served up a cornucopia of lovely birds including the oh so special Forty-spots. Thrilled that you enjoyed the Jurassic Garden also, we too think it is growing more lovely by the day.
Many thanks again,
We spent a week at Inala and enjoyed every minute of it. Cat was a superb professional guide, her knowledge of the birds, animals, flora and environment was encyclopedic. The first day we had a guided tour of Inala, the Jurassic Garden and the Island. She could identify practically all of the bird sounds on our walks. The cottage was very comfortable and well appointed. All the staff were solicitous and accommodating. The highlights were the 40 Spotted Pardalotes, the raptor hide and the trip over to Melaleuca. Although the Orange Bellied Parrots had already left the birding was good and the landscapes seen from the plane were stunning.
Thank-you for taking the time to leave a review and we're so pleased that you enjoyed your time at the Inala Conservation Reserve! It is also great to hear that Cat was a good fit for you - she is definitely a people person and makes up part of our specialist tour guide team. On property, the Jurassic Garden is really coming along and now is home to over 600 species from around 50 plant families. The Forty-spotted Pardalote platform and Raptor hide are two of our most popular birdwatching structures and were designed specifically for minimal wildlife disturbance whilst still providing excellent viewing opportunities. We wholeheartedly agree that the views from the light plant over Tasmania's Wilderness World Heritage Area are stunning, and although you didn't see an Orange-bellied Parrot at Melaleuca, it is good news that they are still returning and that this year saw the highest number of live nestlings since nest box monitoring began in 1994. We look forward to welcoming you back and further sharing our Inala story with you.
My recent 9 day trip on the Tasmanian Endemics tour with Cat Davidson as guide was one of the very best nature experiences in my life.
Our itinerary was well thought out and comprehensive, with visits to many different environments – alpine, wetlands, forests, pelagic. The accommodation was also varied and superb. Cat was extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife, plants and history of the places we visited. She was also patient, an excellent driver, and always on the lookout for wildlife. She is a real “people person” with a lovely sense of humour. She has a wonderful environmental ethos, reflecting the philosophy of Inala Nature Reserve.
Pelagic trip guide, Karen Dick, was also excellent, providing us with great commentary on the stunning albatrosses and other birds seen while we were on the ocean blue.
Our group of 6 was an ideal size for this type of tour. I will definitely be doing another trip with Inala Nature Tours.
Thank-you for taking the time to leave a review, and so glad that you enjoyed the Inala Tasmanian Endemics Birds and Mammals tour! We were thrilled to see it go ahead despite the covid restrictions that threatened disruptions... Our office staff have media and government channels open at all times so we remain on top of any current restrictions throughout Australia, and to keep you safe pre-arrival and whilst on tour. Both Cat and Karen make up part of our specialist guide team and it is great to hear that they connected with you and were able to share their passion for nature and wildlife. This particular tour is one of our set-departure small-group itineraries, and we most definitely look forward to welcoming you back on another set departure or even a tailor-made tour, as we now have to see if we add another nature experience to your 'best' list. Until then.
