We stayed at Inala for 3-nights. To make the most of this opportunity we booked a 3h tour. Our guide Cat was exceptionally knowledgeable with the flora, fauna and conservation techniques employed at Inala. Her passion for her vocation was obvious, as was her enthusiasm for Inala which must rate as one of Australia's best conservation role-models. The variety of habitats provided great opportunity to experience greta variety of flora and fauna. The tour provided the foundation for us to walk through the reserve ourselves (it is necessary to stay in one of the cottages to do this) at our leisure and take the photos we wanted.
Thank-you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review! As you have mentioned, it is a great idea to book a private tour at the start of your stay, as then you can return to areas of interest at your leisure to further enjoy the nature buffet that is the Inala Conservation Reserve. Conservation and sustainable, environmental tourism is at the heart of 'Inala' and for over two decades we have been creating and restoring habitat for threatened and endangered species. We're so pleased that Cat was a great fit as a tour guide, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
Our second stay in 3 years was as enjoyable as the first thanks to Tonia and her wonderful team. We booked a day long Bruny tour and a night tour. Both were fantastic. Dr Andrew Hingston found us many birds including the critically endangered Swift Parrot and on the night tour we were ducking short-tailed shearwaters (mutton birds) and finding Eastern Quolls that are no longer found on Australia’s mainland. A moment to remember on our day tour was finding a bathing pink robin (in all his bright colours). The tours on their own are fantastic but staying on the property gives you access to a much fuller experience
Thank-you so much for your lovely review! We are always humbled when guests return and it is our hope that with the continuing improvements we do on the private Inala Reserve that there will be something new for you to see and enjoy, whenever you may visit. It sounds as though your full day and night tour were ones to remember, and you picked the perfect time of year for an immersive Short-tailed shearwaters experience! Dr Andrew is one of our wonderful, passionate guides, and booking a tailored Inala tour is the best way to tap into their wealth of local knowledge and better understand where the Inala Reserve sits in the local Bruny Island (and wider) conservation spectrum. Having a guide also allows you to return to areas of interest to continue observing nature at your leisure, and we're thrilled that you found opportunities to do this on the Inala property. We look forward to welcoming you back again and again! Many thanks,
I had a 3 hours tour of this wonderful environment. I throughly enjoyed my time with Cat. I would highly recommended anything to do with Inala as I really believed appreciated there philosophy and commitment to the local area.
Thank-you for taking the time to write us a review - we are so pleased that you enjoyed your 3-hour Property Tour and that Cat was a good fit as a guide. All of our guides are keen to share their knowledge and passion for not only the Inala Nature Reserve, but conservation and natural history as it relates in the wider sense. We look forward to welcoming you back at any time for accommodation or further touring on Bruny Island or on one of our longer nature experiences.
During our three day stay at Inala we treated ourselves to a one day guided tour. Our guide was Cat Davidson.
Our tour exceeded our expectations. It was a wonderful experience.
We were amazed by Cat’s passion for the environment, her knowledge of bird calls and her ability to locate even the smallest birds, often in thick forest.
We were treated to all of the Tasmanian endemic birds, the critically endangered swift parrot and many other sought after species including the Pink and Scarlet Robin, Beautiful Firetail and Yellow-tailed black cockatoo.
We also learned a great deal about the effects of climate change and loss of habitat.
Our tour with Cat would have been great value at double the price. Take the trip of a lifetime - you will not regret it.
Thank you so much for your kind and considered review, we are very touched that you so enjoyed your time at Inala and on tour with Cat, and are glad she was such a great fit for guiding your day on Bruny. Many thanks again for your support of Inala, I hope we get to welcome you back again one day.
I have booked a two-day tour with Inala with an Overnight stay in the reserve. I’ve got a customised tour with the guide, Dr Catherine Young who has immense knowledge about native birds and animals, as a bird enthusiast myself, it was so easy to have a conversation with Dr Young, I’ve learned a lot more about the native birds and their behaviours especially the Raptors, I can recommend Inala to any nature and bird enthusiast and I myself wouldn't mind going birding again with Inala.
You guys are amazing!
Special Thanks to Cat for booking and coordination.
Thank you so much for booking with Inala Nature Tours. We are always very proud to show visitors around this very special property and tailor the guiding experience to your area of interest. Catherine Young is certainly very knowledgeable and passionate about the birds and wildlife on Bruny Island and elsewhere. It is wonderful to hear that the tour has expanded your understanding of the bird species here, particularly the Raptors. We look forward to your return to Inala!
Despite the rain on Wednesday the property walk at Inala was amazing. The birds, wildlife, fungi and flowers will keep you wanting to come back again and again. Cat, our guide was wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable. Worth every cent!!
Thank you for visiting Inala. As you say, a wonderful experience at Inala is not necessarily weather dependant. The habitat that we protect here creates a place where the natural world can safely thrive. There is so much to see here with our expert guides like Cat and we appreciate your kind words. Come back anytime.
