Came to Borde Hill Gardens and ended up having a very late breakfast here, due to a series of events involving road closures and gas leaks! We dashed in with five minutes to spare and quickly ordered breakfast. First impressions were good - lovely indoor restaurant with a great seating area out the back. Sat out in the garden to make the most of morning sun.
Service was friendly and smiley (although we were under pressure due to time!!). I ordered a salmon and scrambled egg on brown bread, my daughter a sausage sandwich. Add tea and a cold drink and it came to £19 which made my eyes water!! However the quality of the food was great, the salmon was copious and good quality and the eggs perfectly done. (I am a fussy egg eater, but these were great)

Somewhere to go as a treat I think, a bit pricey for every day eating.

It has to be said that our Bakewell tart was very good and the tea was, well....tea. We paid £13 for this which puts it on the high end of the range. Having paid this we might have expected not to have to sit on well-used plastic chairs or to have a plastic table cloth. Also we might have expected to find cleaner toilets........

This is with doubt the best place for breakfast in Sussex. Fresh high quality ingredients full of flavour. The cooked breakfast is a delight and tastes so good, all to be enjoyed in a friendly atmosphere.
