Description: The Horse and Jockey is a privately owned business in the village of Congerstone, a short distance from the centre of Market Bosworth. Set in pretty countryside, alongside the Ashby canal network and Ivanhoe cycle path is very popular with tourists throughout the summer. The business boasts a popular seperate restaurant, a spacious room that is both informal and relaxing. The menu offerings have emphasis on flavours, freshness and good value and what we have created is a modern approach to traditional favourites. We also have a seperate bar and lounge area where you can enjoy an open fire, cask ales, a varied wine menu and great selection of malt whiskies. In addition to the restaurant we have a bar menu offering a simpler, lighter approach to eating with us but without compromising our cooking principles. In the summer you can enjoy the weather using our large garden area or maybe on the terrace. We also host regular live music which compliments the style of the business. More details can be found on our website and we regularly post updates to Facebook We hope to see you soon...

We were on the Ashby canal on our narrowboat so planned to stop nearby. The Horse and Jockey is very convenient to the canal set in a quiet rural village.
We were midweek so although we had booked a table we didn't really need to. We had the weekday 2-course menu for £18. Food was well presented, delicious and excellent value. Starters were mussels and ham hock hash and chicken tagine and pork rib eye steak.
The pub has been decorated with neutral colours and tasteful furnishings and appears very upmarket.
We would visit again if we were in the area.

Took my wife for her birthday for Sunday lunch on a recommendation by a friend. Overall the experience was very good just a couple of constructive criticisms. Service was very good, although it does annoy me slightly when asked “was everything alright “ & you give feedback without any reply of any kind - not looking for bill reduction! it just confirms they are going through the motions & not really interested at all. My wife was delighted with her main - river trout, while I opted for the standard roast dinner - leg of lamb. Plenty of meat but fatty & chewy in places -that was my feedback. Got the impression this was not carved from the leg on the premises. Fresh & good portion of vegetables but could have been warmer. Overall price of £80 was reasonable considering included all our drinks. Good selection of wines & well priced - reds starting from £16. In conclusion would definitely return to what is a well run bistro pub in a pleasant country setting.

Under done pork. Lamb partially inedible. Side order didnt arrive. Beer cloudy. Well, oddly enough I can live with that stuff. What really bothers me is 'bad attitude' of self important bar staff. Just rude. Unprofessional. Sorry, don't intend going again.

Great welcome, good selection of beers, ciders and wines. Spoilt for choice on the menu. Couldn't fault it.
