This restaurant has one of those confusing addresses and if trying to find it in Seaton Delaval you could get well confused. It is actually in the Milkhope Centre at Blagdon Hall just off the old A1.
This is the sort of place where you can go and enjoy top class, home cooked food in a very clean & relaxing environment. We are now regular customers here and yes it does get a little busy around lunch times but you do not have to wait long to be seated.
They do not serve the three course meal type of fayre but the pies and quiches accompanied by a nice fresh salad is to die for. I often think that sometimes it would be nice to have a choice of potatoes with the food but still at least the salad is fresh. The soup is homemade, just like mother makes, and thick enough to stand up a spoon in. No tinned or packet rubbish here.
Staff here are a real bonus, so helpful and nothing is a bother. They are certainly a great addition to the day, all ways chatty and seem to be smiling.
Would certainly recommend.

Slightly off the A1, it is well worth taking a detour from the A1 to visit the Blacksmith Coffee Shop.

We arrived at about 2 pm on a Friday, and the coffee shop was full, which is always a good sign.

We only had to wait a minute or two for a table.

Food includes sandwiches, salads, baked potatoes, pies, cakes and fruit tarts. Large of hot drinks, soft drinks and wine.

I had ordered bacon and egg pie with salad and my wife corned beef pie, both arrived within 5 minutes.

The bacon and egg pie was delicious, pastry was perfectly cooked, bacon was lean and not salty. My wife's corned beef pie was similarly perfectly cooked and tasted amazing.

Both pies came with salad, freshly made coleslaw and spicy tomato pickle. The tomato pickle was so good I bought a jar.

Followed our main course with, lemon drizzle cake which was moist and full of flavour and bounty coconut slice - messy but fabulous.

Staff, warm, friendly, welcoming and really helpful.

Yes a little out of the way but well worth going off the beaten track.
