1st the positives: The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly.
Thats it...
Now the negatives: It is not worth the price you pay per night for a room. Ive had better nearly everywhere else I ever been too. Travelodges and Premier Inns are far superior to this and better food. The food at the restaurant; called Flambo Jambo's, was bland and boring. Its now just pizza and pasta, no taste to any of them. Catering really for children who don't eat anything but rubbish and not for adults (I think it should be a balance for both, seeing as it the parents that take the children and spend the money!). Breakfast was the same, nothing about it, just bacon that had flabby fat around it, cheap sausages, beans, scrambled eggs that you could cut like soft cheese, full of liquid and small hash browns that were actually the best thing about it. No mushrooms, grilled tomatoes or black pudding. The cereal choices were good and the drinks good too but that does not make up for the main event does it? When I was last here a few years ago it was excellent, huge buffet and a proper breakfast. What happened? Another thing is that the food stations had food spilt all around them, especially the sweet and cake one. Ice-cream and sweets all over the floor from unsupervised children. Very dangerous for both adults and children as its a hard floor to crack your head open on!!! We did mention this to the staff and manager and they did clear it all up straight away, but no one was keeping an eye on it throughout the evening. If you like screaming, spoilt, badly behaved kids running around with ice-cream loaded with fizzy sweets then book away! Not for me and mine and will not be staying ever again. Just as a foot note this does not reflect on the amusement park as this is and always has been excellent.

Hi Lee T,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on our TripAdvisor page.

It's sad to see that the negatives greatly outweigh the positive aspects of your recent trip with us at The Splash Landings Hotel. We are pleased to hear that you think that our staff are friendly and that you liked our rooms available. However, it is a shame to hear that you think you were better off somewhere else. We do our best to try and provide an all round fantastic experience for all of our guests and it's sad to hear that, for you this was not the case.

We really do appreciate all of your feedback as it helps us to understand which areas that improvements could be made. All of your comments will be passed onto the relevant managerial teams for review.

Once again we thank you for your feedback and can only apologise for the negative events that you encountered.

Kind Regards,
Alton Towers Resort

My husband and his two children aged 12 and 15 stayed here. Good location but the hotel is a little dated. With the money that the hotel makes, you would expect the rooms to be better - they need a little TLC. although the hotel has a water park, you have to pay to use it £16 per person. You would of hoped that if you were staying at the hotel you would get use of the facilities.

Room tip: Largish rooms.

A fun hotel with an amazing water park. We have been visiting the hotel for years and have always had a positive experience. The rooms are cute but on the small side but as we are only a small family of three it has worked out well. The buffet restaurant is always great with lots of choice and yummy desserts

We stayed at Splash Landings from Friday to Sunday. We arrived at approx 5.30pm on Friday and check in was a short wait and very straight forward.

We decided to quickly drop our bags off and head to the water park which was only located a short walk from our room.

We had a slight issue with our tickets which the staff fixed with no hassle at all. Once in the pool it was warm and clean. Great idea to have nets hung up to put towels on so chairs are not taken up unnecessarily.

The flumes were great and the wait times weren’t too long, our children aged 5 & 7 loved them.

Back to the room and everything was nice and clean, noticed the pineapple lamp hadn’t been dusted but very minor. Had tea/coffee/biscuits provided along with iron and hair dryer in the room.

Beds were comfy and the children liked the bunk beds.

Room in general was lovely but did look a bit tired.

Evening entertainment is provided in the hotels and this was good albeit VERY loud! Children liked the disco and they also had an area of duplo bricks for children to play with.

Breakfast was straightforward and we had bookings for 7.30/7.45, no problem getting seated and minimal waiting to get food. Selection and quality of the cooked breakfast was very disappointing though. Very watery beans and scrambled egg!

Overall a lovely stay and very convenient for access to the park, just needs some TLC in places.

Hi Msgreen82,

Thank you for leaving a review on our TripAdvisor page.

We are pleased to hear that you and your family enjoyed your time at the Waterpark! It's always great to hear about when guests have a really great experience with us.

With regards to the appearance of the room we do try to update our decor in the Hotel often as part of our TLC (Towers Loving Care) Scheme. However we are yet to update some aspects of the Hotel this year and we are looking into ways in which it can be improved. We really appreciate feedback like this as it can help towards giving us ideas of what can be done to make the Hotel look that little bit more magical.

Thank you again for your feedback and we do hope to see you return again soon!

Kind Regards,
Alton Towers Resort

We stayed here for the weekend with out three kids. The theme of the hotel is lovely, but the same standard isn't met in the bedrooms! The cupboard door was falling off, tv didn't work (which they fixed when called) and the -view- from the window was overgrown weeds climbing so high we couldn't open it!! You pay a lot for the rooms and I can't see why?! We had breakfast in the restaurant there and the staff were lazy and stood around mocking the guests- not professional at all. Rude! On the plus side, the evening had kids entertainment which kept them amused. Overall, not great
