Managed to get here dispite flooded roads to find a pleasant compact House. Interesting history and architecture. Too early in the year for the garden so will return again.

Lovely little manor house with a charming garden. Worth a visit to the chapel too. You can also stay here in the holiday let apartment.

The house is really lovely, shame Henry V111 never visited even though the prospect was planned for by the owner! The house is very cosy and would have been a very pleasant place to live. The gardens are good but access is limited to protect it. Tours are available from the knowledgeable gardeners (on my day it was an assistant gardener).
A walk in the attached woods requires boots or wellies if the weather has been bad. Normal shoes will get very muddy and the walk is slippery in place when muddy as was the day I went.

Smashing little cafe, it would be very busy in the summer as its quite small, the staff were extremely friendly though.

I enjoyed it, if you a photographer, like me, there is plenty to attract your attention.

Visited this property after visiting Montacute as we wanted to see as many places as possible during our stay. The gardens were pleasant but the house is fairly small with not a great deal to see in comparison to others we have visited. There is a holiday let in the West Wing.

I would go out of my way to see this property if you are into historic properties. This property is of manageable size so you can absorb it all. Approximately 1/2 of the House is a let if you are fortunate enough to be able to afford and utilize the facility.

The area that you can visit is superb if you are interested in a very historic house, that was restored to 1700's style with antique period furnishings in the early 1900's and then it was "preserved" in that state until today. If you could stay in this section it is furnished to living standard. I could see it as a movie set ready to go as is. Most houses of this type that we visit in the UK and Europe are not furnished/maintained to this standard. It is very easy to transport yourself back in time at this House. The gardens and outbuildings are also first class but not overwhelming in size, ie, you could see a real person/family (of means)living here.
