I stayed over the Easter weekend with my canine companion in Room 3 with far reaching views over wild Exmoor. We were very warmly welcomed and were delighted to find such super amenities - the room was warm and very pleasant and, as a dog owner, it was such a bonus to be able to come and go as required through an entrance leading directly outside. It was really great too that dogs were welcomed at all meal times in the restaurant where the friendly and attentive service was matched by the imaginative and beautifully prepared meals using local produce - the freshly caught rock oysters were delicious. This is a restaurant with rooms with a difference and a real find in a beautiful part of the West Country. We will be back. Very highly recommended.

Room Tip: I loved Room 3 with the super views.

Enjoy a good local Devon Red steak, cooked the way you like, with hand cut chips and fresh salad then phone these guys and book a table for a wednesday evening and enjoy 2-4-1 steak night. Take the family, take your friends, treat someone who has done you a good deed. Or just take the other half! You will have a great evening with Becky, Josh and all the gang. We have been as a 2,3,4 and a 6 and always had a great evening. Spoil someone you like and take them to The Culbone.

stayed at the culbone for one night on 5/3/16 in room 4 , and loved it, near a road but very quiet, hotel is very well run and very dog friendly the food was amazing and well worth paying for it has a lovely log burner in the bar/restaurent and the staff are really nice, even loaning us a map to visit the local church which is worth visiting.
our room had a lovely view, the bed was fantastic as was the shower, there is plenty of parking outside and outside seating for our warmer months.
we will return to this place soon, it also has free Wi-Fi but mobile signals are not very good but hay ho who cares if you are away for a break

We visited as part of am offer run by the Inn which gives free accommodation when you spend £100 on food and drink during the Winter.
The welcome and service was excellent and after the challenging walk to Culbone church we enjoyed a drink by the open fire.
Our evening meal was wonderful with a great bottle of Merlot which was reasonably priced at £15. The meal was probably the best I have ever had! The scallops were beautiful and the steak was sublime.
The only thing I would mention was that the noise from the kitchen fan started at around 745 and woke us up. The windows in the room also need some attention as obvious that gaps are letting in draft and the room could do with some redecoration. As we didn't pay for the room it wasn't really a huge issue for us and the msnagement have said they will act on the comnenrs. The bed was very comfortable too and the room was very clean.
Beautiful part of the world and the Inn is highly recommended.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Alex and myself Annette, have recently taken over the Culbone Stables Inn on Exmoor. It is situated on the A39 between Porlock and Lynton in the idyllic heart of Exmoor. Our Inn and gardens are in a beautiful setting and have exceptional views across the valley of Coombe. Our aim has been to renovate the restaurant back to a welcome, friendly Country Inn/pub. Our menu is traditional pub fare, at reasonable prices, using local produce. We welcome walkers, cyclists, families and dogs. We have 5 on suite bedrooms. 2 are opposite each other (one twin, one double) with their own landing and would be perfect for families. Room 1 has its own private patio, with stunning views. Our motto is , anything you want, just ask. We might not be able to fulfill some requests but there's no harm in asking. ... more   less
