Warm and welcoming self catering cottage with everything you need to base your stay in a wonderful part of Shropshire. Helpful hosts when you need them, but otherwise you are left in peace and privacy to make your holiday one of walks, exploration, museums, towns and country - whatever your preference. So much to do, it can’t be done in one visit. We’re going back!
We first came across Mike and Rachel's gorgeous Folly Cottage in mid 2014, when looking for somewhere to stay in Shropshire, so subsequently booked
a glorious 7 weeks at Folly Cottage in September/October, using it as a base and home for our UK holiday ,and we couldn’t have been more pleased.
Mine hosts, Rachel and Mike (not forgetting cats Buffy and Tangle!) made us so very welcome and continued to do so throughout our holiday – always there with unobtrusive help and advice when required (ranging from bringing in our rain-threatened washing to borrowing cuff-links; recommending nearby restaurants to picking fruit from the garden) .
The cottage itself is a master-piece – each room tastefully decorated, equipped with all the modern accoutrements to make life easy, – we wanted for nothing. It was light and airy whilst the balmier weather prevailed (for most of our stay, unusually for England!) but cosy and warm when the weather was a bit wetter and cooler on an odd day or two.
The location of the cottage in the beautiful Shropshire countryside is ideal for exploring all the many attractions within a few miles, ranging from the many Industrial Revolution museums (including Ironbridge) to the local pubs and the several medieval towns within a short drive.
All in all, absolutely great – so much so, we returned for 4 weeks in 2016, and 5 weeks this year - and each visit was as perfect as the first!!
