Description: The Shake Shop is a Grade 2 listed building, with lots of original features which have lent themselves well to the treasure trove of goodies that fill the shelves within. It truly is the loveliest shop in Witney. Pop in and see for yourself! Being a small family run business we have the flexibility to input all our own ideas and touches (sometimes rather crazy) and offer a friendly personal service, which is not always easy to find these days. Alongside our very popular shakes and smoothies, you will find ice-creams,hot chocolate and coffees, seasonal specials and old-fashioned sweets. All our customers, young and old are very important to us, so please send us any feedback or suggestions, via our website or Facebook page. We always love to hear from you.

Excellent shakes, selection if sweets from the UK and the US. Lively garden and upstairs, now also a traditional penny arcade. One not to be missed for kids and adults alike.

I've only ever had a sip of the shakes here and I have to say that 2 Mars Bars blended with foam banana sweets is not my idea of heaven. But the kids love it, and I'm an extremely uncool dude as far as they are concerned, so what do I know? Ask any kid within a 10-mile radius what their favourite place to go is, and here you have the answer. The Shake Shop is legendary.

The staff are so helpful and nice and if you like milkshakes then this is a must. Every chocolate bar flavour under the sun plus hot drinks and sweets.

Been here a few times as the milkshakes are decent, good choice and not too expensive for an independent on a high street.

But enough is enough with the passive aggressive signage about seating, use of toilets, etc etc etc it is absolutely everywhere and actually doesn't make for a very pleasant visit.

Hi Graeme
Thank you for your review and for your positive comments.
Like you, we are very disappointed that we have had to resort to signs in our shop.
Unfortunately, the extension to our business, of upstairs and the garden have led to certain problems having to be addressed.
Firstly, the toilet signs. We have found, in recent months, that our toilet is increasingly being used as a public convenience. This is unfair on both us, as a small business trying to maintain our costs and also to our paying customers that wish to use our amenities. We have 2 signs reiterating that our toilets are for customer use only and the problem has decreased slightly.
We also have a sign on the back of the toilet door reminding people to turn off the light and tap and use the bins etc. This unfortunately has only partly solved the issue of wasted resources as some of the children being allowed to use the toilet on their own are not of reading age!
The seating signs to which you refer have arisen from a problem with teenagers mainly, using our diner as a meeting / hang out joint. Many of these youngsters are totally ignorant that you should not do this without spending any money. Unfortunately, along with these groups comes increased noise etc, which is unfair to our other customers and we do not want to deter families from enjoying our diner. We tried just one sign at the entrance, but this did not work and at the times when staff are not present upstairs, we pop one on most tables. They are there purely for people taking up seats that may be required by our customers.
You may also have noticed a small sign in each of our lovely diner windows. We most certainly would rather they were not there, but parents/ carers were continually allowing their children to stand on the windowsills and also trying to open the windows, which I’m sure you will understand is a safety issue. Since the signs have been placed, the problem has reduced.
Finally we have recently placed two small signs near the sweets, reminding parents to watch that their children do not damage the sweets, as we were finding our damaged stock levels had increased to a shocking level, which we just couldn’t continue to incur. The signs have made people more aware and the problem has lessened.
You call our signs passive/ aggressive. We think most people know us as a friendly, happy business and we have tried hard to put our points forward in a polite way. However we are a small independent business, which despite being busy, has a constant battle on keeping our costs down in order to survive.
Better a few signs, than a ‘CLOSING DOWN’ sign in the window!!
We hope, despite our signs, we can welcome you back soon.
