Approach from the direction of the Lamb Inn or the Parish Church and you will find this delightful park hidden away under the trees and alongside a duck filled stream. Apart from the performance area this is not a traditional park with well tended lawns. Instead it is rather ramshackle which is part of its appeal. Sir John, who lived very nearby for twenty years, remains a favourite poet of mine and curious reminders of his art appear all over the park. There are information boards too to remind one of its namesake. It is a place to sit and contemplate or maybe consume a picnic. People are always passing as the network of paths strategically intersect the centre of Wantage. Once in the park, though, you could be a long way from the hustle and bustle of the conurbation. It is ended by the locals.
