Six friends visited this venue for lunch on a cold day. On our arrival the lady on the bar served our drinks, then lit the open fire and then took our meals order. Our table was near the fire so we were quickly warmed up.

One of our party only wanted the soup so she asked if this could be served at the same time as the main courses. Unfortunately this did not happen as the soup was served after a few minutes and the main courses for the rest of the group didn't arrive for a further 30 minutes.

When the main courses were delivered I was informed that mine would be further delayed as they cook using bottled gas and the gas bottle would have to be changed. My meal duly arrived after a further 10 minutes.

Despite all the delay, the food was very good. I had the grilled salmon from the specials board and it was delicious. The portion of salmon was very generous. My wife also had the salmon which she enjoyed as well. Two of our party went for the fish and chips. The fish were well cooked and of massive proportions. One of our party opted for the beef lasagne with a portion of railway sleeper chips. These were thick cut chips that had been triple cooked and he found them really enjoyable.

All in all we were very pleased with our meals and we were also pleased with the prices. The meals were great value for money.

Visited ' the Neuk' on a whim for lunch. I had seen some recent reviews but thought l would give it a try. There is a new chef in the kitchen and it really shows, l had the pork belly, with leek mash accompanied by caramelised sliced apple, it was fabulous. Fish and chips is also highly recommended. Cheers

We called in for tea with our son

Nothing to write home about the fish and chips where great, the burger cremated, the scampi was solid

Desserts little ones ice cream was the best the same can't be said for the other deserts

The bar was dirty, carpets threadbare and pool table ripped

What a shame as this was not the case a year ago on our last visit

Called in to grab a bite of lunch. Chose from the 2 meals for £10 offer so did not expect gourmet dining but the pork chop I was served was almost meatless - mostly bone and fat (which instead of being crispy was grey and flabby) paper thin, dry and shrivelled. YUCK! It came with a tump of dry mash and a mixture of veg which was not too bad if a bit cold. No gravy but the very friendly barmaid did offer me this as a side dish which I accepted thank fully but chop still revolting. My husband's ham egg and chips was an improvement although chips tasted of stale fat. A shame as it seemed a friendly place but we will not return or recommend to anyone else.
