Just returned from a 3 night stay and must say that we were really looked after by Deborah and her staff
we had booked the winter special arriving on sunday 14th and due to work commitments had to push our booking forward 1 week to sunday 21st which was after the offer date.
We were really pleased that the cottage inn had only billed us for the offer price which was extremely kind.
From some of the reviews I wasn't expecting too much but as soon as we entered the front door there was a very pleasant aroma and equally fresh on entering our dog friendly room , I certainly would not have known that the room had ever been used to room dogs prior to our visit. As dog owners we must congratulate you on that.
On to the food , great menu ,lots of choice and fantastic value.
The dinner, bed and breakfast and the housing of two dogs for £45 per person per night is probably the best value break we have experienced in the uk.
I was waiting for the catch but there was only one and it was catch of the day which was the enormous battered haddock ,jimmys hand cut chips, mushy peas ,and tartare sauce.
Having had a starter of potted crab served with homemade sour dough bread, followed by the hearty fish stew for main on the Monday night I could not even look at a dessert menu and in fact the three nights we were there we did not have a dessert as the portions for mains offered were so generous.
The breakfast on offer was extremely tasty , well presented ,well cooked ,good ingredients served by friendly staff and enough to keep both of us going till dinner at 7.30(no lunch required)
I am really surprised to see so few people staying at this hotel although there were some locals eating and drinking at the bar.
If you are looking for a really good value short break then give this place a try, especially the winter offer its an absolute bargain.
Best points for me were the food .always served piping hot, clean room, fresh clean bedding and towels ,dog friendly and helpful staff.
We will certainly be back ,hopefully back end of the year
Thanks for looking after us

My husband thought the beer was terrible, my glass was dirty, the dog was walking on the bar, licking drinks off of tables and out of glasses. YUK!

Very good pub offering a wide range of food - home made and served by pleasant staff. Serving food all day with good sandwiches and baguettes at lunchtime.

We stayed for four days, enjoyed the cooked breakfasts on two of those days, the porridge on the other two. A friendly place to bring your dog with excellent walks in the area. Evening meals were reasonable, and tasty, served either in the bar or a cosy restaurant.

Stayed here for one night only bed and breakfast, staff friendly but found Inn tired, we were disappointed with the bedroom.
The Positive - bed linen and towels were lovely crisp and clean.
The Negative - room smelt of wet dogs which was really off putting! Water pressure for shower very weak and ended up having a bath.
Breakfast was okay.
