Having visited for the past two years we decided we had to return again.
All was just as great as before. Fantastic scenery, lovely cottage, a brilliant get away from it all. Will no doubt be back!
nice old world cottage with enclosed paddock to run your dog or let your kids play in safety. Jim and Pam very friendly and helpful owners.good shop two miles away in cornhill and good food pubs in coldstream and wooler with plenty more in villages locally. walk to the top of humbleton hill for glorious views and bamburgh and berwick only about 15 miles away. If you want a quiet and relaxing holiday this is an ideal location. The wood burner fire is great once you get used to it.
We were two gentleman fishers and thoroughly enjoyed the cottage. Our hosts made every effort to ensure all our needs were met. They came in and lit the fire so we came back to a very welcome warm cottage. A very nice welcome pack was warmly received and an early visit to ensure we had everything we needed and told to contact them should we require anything at all.
Lovely quiet cottage that we used as a base for visiting various places in Northumberland and Scotland too. The cottage was well equipped ( despite broken shower on arrival) but this was a minor problem. The paddock was a safe area for our family games with our 2 disabled children. The owners were lovely and brought us fresh eggs, juice and freshly dug potatoes that were very tasty. Hope to stay here again one day!!!
What a lovely welcome - we arrived two weeks ago at the cottage and found a bottle of wine, fresh eggs and new potatoes, dug up that very afternoon by our lovely hosts. We settled in easily with our two teenage girls, plus a 12-year-old boy who enjoyed having the attic room to himself. Our dog was welcome too, and it is an ideal place for a family like us. Clean and organised, but not intimidatingly posh - so we could truly relax. The paddock was ideal for playing outside and we used it for family waterfights! A lot of the time the weather was unpredictable, so it was lovely to get the stove on and there was enough cut wood to last us a year, never mind the fortnight.
Without doubt, the best thing about this property is the couple who run it. They are friendly, but never obtrusive, and genuinely tried their best to help in every situation - letting me know about local money-saving tips (saved us 60 pounds on a meal out!) and, wait for it, actually watched our dog for a day while we headed into Newcastle for the day! Talk about going the extra mile! Thoroughly recommended!
